CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION <br />NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO <br />-X� <br />CIVIL SERVICE FETING - JANUARY 28, 1988 - 4:00 P.M. - TOWN HALL <br />Present: Commissioners: Madeline Brookshire, Tom Stroh, Bob Wendt, <br />Secretary, Peg Hill <br />Minutes of the previous meeting approved as presented. <br />OLD BUSINESS: <br />Commission informed Fire Chief Van Kuren that a full time <br />clerk/dispatcher, if approved for the Fire Department, would require <br />civil service testing. <br />Discussed the review of the N.Q. Civil Service Rules & Regulations. A <br />meeting is scheduled for this purpose on Saturday, February 20, 1988 at <br />10:00 A.M. in the Administration Building. Commissioners took, for home <br />study, copies of the rules and regulations received from surrounding <br />districts. <br />Tom Stroh related he contacted the mayor's office re civil srevice <br />budget. <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br />The test for police dispatcher was discussed. Commissioners requested <br />the secretary to contact various testing companies inquiring whether <br />they offered a dispatcher test suitable for -both police and fire <br />departments. <br />Mr. Wendt. will meet with Mr. Bud Becker, Safety Director, to discuss a <br />dual examination with the possibility of both Chiefs referencing a <br />single list of dispatcher candidates. <br />Commissioners reviewed a letter from a NOMBL driver requesting <br />consideration. Secretary to communicate with driver to relate civil <br />service will disclaim any action on the matter, in accordance with <br />civil service rules. <br />Commissioners reviewed a letter from the Justice Department directed to <br />the Law Director and forwarded to the commission. Commissioners <br />requested secretary to return letter to the Law Director for his <br />attention. <br />Special meeting projected for Wednesday, February 10, 1988 for all <br />interested city employees discussed. Copies of the city certified <br />payroll list distributed to commissioners.. Discrepancies were <br />discussed; especially in the area of part-time personnel being.shown on <br />the certified list. This, and other matters, will be reviewed at this <br />special meeting.
