CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION <br />NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO <br />•UMCGO . <br />CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING , December 15, 19 <br />Present: Commission members; Madeline Brookshire, Thomas Stroh, <br />Bob Wendt and Secretary, Peg Hill <br />This meeting was held as a luncheon meeting outside of the Town Hall <br />setting. <br />Discussion surrounded the City Clerk test given December 6, 1988 and <br />the scheduled typing test, January 11, 1989. <br />The commissioners will forward a letter to Council requesting that <br />consideration be given to improve the initial starting salaries of <br />Clerks and Secretaries in city government. With the starting annual <br />salary of $9500.00 for clerks it is unlikely to attract qualified <br />candidates. As the testing procedure is costly the commissioners felt <br />that the salary being so low was a detriment. <br />Discussion continued on the placement of the Educational Aides in the <br />North Olmsted City Schools into the Secretary II category, Commissioners <br />felt that this placement was in error, being a civil service category, <br />and instructed the secretary to write a letter to Mr. Kline, with copies <br />to the Superintendent and Board President declaring this transfer of <br />personnel null and void and requesting also a date be given for the <br />Secretary II testing. <br />Commissioners also discussed the classifed ad for the Firefighter/Para- <br />medic test to be given sometime in February of 1989. A copy of the <br />previous classified ad will be forwarded to Chief Van Kuren for any <br />necessary changes. <br />A matter of a patrolman hearing was brought up and the commission <br />instructed the secretary to communicate with interested parties re a <br />date and time of a hearing. <br />This wa an informal meeting of the commission and the next regular <br />meet g Will be January 26, 1989. <br />Peg H 1,�.
