eU._D <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTIM <br />CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION <br />NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO <br />CIVIL SERVICE MEETING -APRIL 27. 1989 <br />i <br />Present. Members of the commission: Mrs. Madeline BrooKsh"_e and <br />Robert Wendt; Secretary, Peg Hill. Absent: '�om Stroh, C irl_ <br />Guests: Flash Fairfield, reporter from WEST <br />The April meeting was a short business meeting primarily devoted to <br />discussions surrounding the recent Firefighter test along with the <br />upcoming Dispatchers examination. <br />Commissioners also discussed the events at the March meeting and the <br />concerns raised by those taking the Police Lieutenant promotional test. <br />Correspondence reviewed from the North Olmsted Schools and letter from <br />Mayor Petrigac, regarding the secretarial position in her office. <br />OLD BUSINESS: <br />Minutes of previous meeting given to commissioners for their approval. <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br />Firefighter.Physical Agility Test to be,given at the North Olmsted High <br />School on Saturday, May 20, 1989 at 9:00 A.M. The top 25 candidates are <br />.invited to this test. Actually 71 candidates passed the written portion <br />of the Firefighter test. <br />Commissioners requested Mrs. Brookshire seek a price on the purchase of,.. <br />a dynamometer for use in this tests and all future tests. <br />Mrs. Brookshire has given the candidate eye test previously, however she <br />will be unable to perform on the 20th as she has made other plans. Mr. <br />Wendt discussed the prospect of Russ Bierman assisting the commissioners <br />in administering this test. Commissioners agreed that this replacement <br />was equitable and Mr. Wendt will contact Mr. Bierman. <br />Letter received from Chief Marsh re dispatcher vacancy. There may be a. - <br />need to hire two dispatchers as soon as a list is established. <br />Also discussed the O.R.C. Rule #124.44re Appointments. Mr. Wendt <br />stated that appointments were personal matters and should be handled by <br />the by -the Police Chief and the Fire Chief, if it was a concern of the <br />Safety Departments, and Civil Service does not involve itself with these <br />appointments, we simply furnish the certified and ranked list of <br />c i tes. <br />Thomas Stroh, Chairman Pe iL , Secretary <br />
