CITY OF NORTH OLMSTE®
CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO
0 CIVIL SERVICE MEETING: March 26, 1992
PRESENT: Chairman Henry Robinson, Commissioner Jim Hines,
Secretary Tracy Ice
GUESTS: Chief Osterhouse
MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED AS READ.
OLD BUSINESS
The Entry Level Police Physical Agility Test will be scheduled for
Tuesday, May 5,. 1992 at 7:00 pm at the High School Gym. Civil
Service will have 40 candidates taking the Agility Test. Chief
Osterhouse will drop off the dummy which will be used for one of the
tests sometime on May 5th at the school. Since the candidates will
get a complete physical/vision examination before being able to join
the department, the Civil Service Commission decided to do away with
the vision test which we use to give at the Agility Test.
The Building Inspector test is scheduled for March 30, 1992 at
7:00 pm at the Community Cabin. There will be one officer there to
thumb print. There are also 39 candidates expected to show. We
should have the results back the week of April 10th.
Mr. Gundy is still reviewing the list that Ron Wilamosky sent Civil
Service with regards to who has Union/Non-Union Coverage. The
Commission will then get together with the Law Director and discuss
who should/should not be covered under Civil Service.
Regarding the Handbook - the Commission decided not to add a sexual
harassment section which Ron Wilamosky wanted added. The Commission
also decided to add more definitions from Paul Diechmann's letter to
the handbook. Both people were sent letters telling them of the
Commission's decision.
NEW BUSINESS
Chief Osterhouse brought up the issue of whether Marella Varanese of
the Fire Department should be covered under Civil Service. Jim
Hines requested a letter to be sent to Ron Wilamosky stating that
"we consider Marella Varanese to be covered under Civil Service" if
Ron disagrees, he is requested to get in touch with Civil Service.
The Commission decided that we would pay the Call & Post and
Westlife Newspapers for their ads even though they ran under Legal
Notice instead of under their Classified section. Civil Service
requested a letter to go out to them stating that if this happens
again that we will not pay for future ads that run under Legal
Notice.
