ROLL CALL: THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION OF FEBRUARY 17, 1997 WILL NOW COMMENCE.... IV OLD BUSINESS A) Report oirhandbook At4he December 1996'meeting the'cry l service commis':' n'voted to declare the June 1996 handbook, a suggestion All directors and`department heads have received a copy of the June,edition on :disk or yra e mail Bot -their review. The fire department and the law department provided, suggestrons at the January 27, 1997 meeting. Please be advised, as of the mailing date, we have not received any, additional suggestions. Hopefully, we will have more suggestions by the meeting date ff � ; r The secretary, read the e-mail fiom Ron' Wilamosky;" dated February ri, 1997. , In this e-mail, Mr. Wilamosky explauied, he:vvill be meeting with the Mayor, Mr. Gareau;46d Mrs. Kasler on February 21, 1997 for the�purpose of reviewing the current rules and regulations as well as joint recommendations for change In this memo, Mr. Wilamosky agrees to present the suggestions prior to the regularMarch commission meeting Commissioner` Benjamin gave Mr. Osterhouse a copy of this e-mail per hrs`fequest. The 6ommissidnmembers.mill discuss this after all the suggestions are received. Chairman: Cnmm,ngs agreed to =send a letter out requesting that a consolidated book of suggestions be submitted as soon as possible. He clarified the reason for this request is to allow time for the review to be completed in a timely manner. The handbook review was deferred until the March meeting. B) At the last Civil Service meeting Captain Ruple questioned if it would be possible for the commission to begin certifying ten names, rather than three. This was discussed briefly, and Captain Ruple agreed to research it further and hopefully provide the. commission with documentation supporting his position. As of the mailing date, this issue was being researched. The police department may have something to present by the meeting date.
