rf' <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />"TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!" <br />CIVIL. SERVICE COMMISSION <br />MINUTES — OCTOBER 16, 2000 <br />7:00 PM <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman, Thomay called the meeting to order at 7:05pm. <br />PRESENT: Chairman, J. Thomay and Board member, P. Farrell. <br />ABSENT: Board member, L. Zolar. <br />ALSO PRESENT: Civil Service Secretary, D. Rote and Asst. Clerk of Commissions, S. Solomon. <br />H. DISPOSITION OF NUNUTES: The Civil Service minutes dated July 17, 2000 and August 30, <br />2000, have been submitted for approval. <br />J. Thomay motioned to approve the Civil Service minutes as submitted. The motion was seconded <br />by P. Farrell and unanimously approved. <br />III. REPORTS: <br />Received ten (10) correspondences and sent out 142 correspondences. <br />Mr. Thomay indicated that he spoke to the secretary regarding the number of correspondence copies <br />the Commissioners received in their packet. When a test is administered and the majority of the <br />letters sent out are the same, the clerk will only submit a sample copy of a passing letter and a <br />failing letter for the Commissioners to review. This will be acceptable only if there is a result sheet <br />submitted which shows the breakdown of each candidate's score. He questioned if Mr. Farrell <br />thought this would be acceptable. Mr. Farrell indicated that he felt it would be an acceptable <br />procedure to follow. <br />J. Thomay motioned to approve the correspondences as written. The motion was seconded by P. <br />Farrell and unanimously approved. Motion Carried. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />1) The Commissioners need to certify the results of the Entry Level Fire Fighters Examination. <br />Mr. Thomay reviewed the statistics of the fire fighters entry level examination. Two hundred twenty <br />three, (223) Candidates picked up applications. One hundred forty four, (144) Candidates returned their <br />applications. Four, (4) application were rejected. One hundred forty, (140) Candidates were scheduled to take <br />the written test. Twenty-two, (22) written exam candidates did not show up to take the test. One hundred <br />seventeen, (117) Candidates participated in the written test. Ninety-two, (92) Candidates passed the written <br />test. Twenty-six, (26) Candidates failed the written test. Thirty-nine, (39) Candidates were invited to take the <br />agility test. Seven, (7) Candidates failed to respond to the agility invitation. Two, (2) Candidates failed to <br />show up to take the agility test; Thirty, (30) Candidates took the agility test; Twenty seven, (27) Candidates <br />passed the agility test. Three, (3) Candidates failed the agility test. Mr. Thomay indicated that once the <br />results were certified the effective date of expiration for this test would be October 16, 2002. The top 27 <br />ranking candidates are; 1) Richard Lennox, 2) Andrew Clark, 3) Carl Sommer, 4) Christopher Keener, 5) <br />Adam Hudak, 6) David Murphy, 7) Robert Senczylo, 8) Joseph Hongosh, 9) Jason Meek, 10) David Stein, <br />11) Marc Lindsay, 12) Jonathan Weinberg, 13) Sean Cottrell, 14) John Oneill, 15) Brian Shlapack, 16) Jim <br />Penner, 17) Chadwich Thompson, 18) Louis Bottone; 19) Dustin Burkholder, 20) Timothy Gates, 21) Jason <br />
