CITE' OF NORTH OLMSTED . <br />"TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!" <br />CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION <br />"SPECIAL, MEETING" <br />MINUTES — JULY 3, 2001 <br />9:30 PM <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Thomay called the meeting to order at 9:55pm. <br />PRESENT: Chairman Thomay, Board member, L. Zolar. <br />ABSENT: Board member, P. Farrell. <br />ALSO PRESENT: Fire Chief, Bak and Asst. Civil Service Secretary, S. Solomon. <br />II. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: <br />III. REPORTS: <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />1. Commissioners need to review a letter received from M.D. Hershner dated <br />June 25, 2001. <br />Chairman Thomay indicated that he had read the documentation thoroughly <br />and it appears that the eye doctor has changed his mind. The fire candidate has <br />gone to the Cleveland Clinic and the Ohio State University Health Sciences <br />Center and both facilities rendered a similar decision. They believe that the <br />trichromacy is mild and it would not affect the candidates job performance. He <br />questioned if Mrs. Zolar had read the document. Mrs. Zolar indicated that she <br />had read it and the candidate should be able to be hired with these professional <br />opinions. Mr. Thomay indicated that the doctor thought the language of the <br />requirements should be re -worded for clarification purposes. <br />J. Thomay motioned to accept David Stein's employment with the City of <br />North Olmsted fire department. The motion was seconded by L. Zolar and <br />was unanimously approved. Motion Carried. <br />1. Commissioners need to certify the results of the Police officers written <br />examination. <br />Chairman Thomay indicated that the Civil Service Entry Level Police <br />Examination was administered on June 25, 2001 at the Community Cabin. 148 <br />applicants took the examination, 20 applicants did not pass the examination <br />(passing score at 70%), 30 best scoring candidates will be -invited to take the <br />Physical Agility Test on Sunday, July 29, 2001. The top 30 candidates in <br />highest to lowest brder are: 1) Andrew Bardwell 2) Angel Kazy 3) Michael <br />Sedor 4) Michael Yovanno 5) Charles Hlynosky 6)'Erin Joecken 7) George <br />Sakellakis 8) Gennaro Romanello 9) Robert Hess 10) Kevin Curtis 11) <br />
