CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED �r\ <br />CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING <br />MAYOR'S CONFERENCE ROOM <br />MINUTES — MARCH 19, 2007 <br />7:00 P.M. <br />I. ROLL CALL: Chairman M. Ubaldi called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br />PRESENT: M. Ubaldi, W. Hohmann, and K. Zolar <br />ALSO PRESENT: Safety Director T. Terbrack, Human Resources Director C. Farver, Police <br />Chief W. Wozniak, Police Lieutenant M. Kilbane, Police Sergeant D. Walling, Patrolman J. Yost, <br />Patrolman K. Vagase, Assistant Law Director B. O'Malley, Civil Service Secretary D. Eccleston <br />II. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: <br />The Civil Service minutes dated February 26, 2007 have been submitted for approval. <br />Mr. Ubaldi made a motion to accept the minutes as submitted. Mr. Hohmann seconded the <br />motion and unanimously approved. <br />III. COMMUNICATIONS: <br />There were 17 items of correspondence received and 19 items of correspondence sent out by the <br />Civil Service Commission. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />Responses from the candidates for the Promotional Assistant Fire Chief Examination are as follows: <br />seventeen (17) yes's; four (4) no's; thirteen (13) no responses. <br />Application packets for the Corrections Officer Examination were prepared and approximately fifty <br />(50) applications were dispersed. The small conference room at North Olmsted Library has been <br />reserved and might cause a problem due to the large number of applications distributed. In 2001, <br />eight (8) applicants participated in the examination; in 1997, twenty six (26) applicants participated <br />in the examination. A change of location may occur along with an addendum sent to the applicants. <br />A general discussion followed regarding the new State language; reconciling the language with the <br />Civil Service Rules and Regulations will be discussed in May or June. <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />Review the Promotional Police Sergeant Examination Results <br />Mr. Ubaldi reviewed the results from the Promotional Police Sergeant Examination. Thirty-nine <br />(39) Patrol Officers were invited to take the test; twenty-eight (28) affirmed their intention; twenty- <br />five (25) participated in the examination; six (6) candidates participated in the oral assessment; <br />written examination is 75% weighted; oral assessment 25% weighted; rank #1— Simon Cesareo — <br />weighted written 62.72%, weighted oral 23.17%, 1 point for efficiency rating Exceeds Expectations, <br />
