Ubaldi called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. <br />PRESENT: M. Ubaldi and W. Hohmann <br />ALSO PRESENT: Safety Director T. Terbrack, Human Resources Director C. Farver, Sandie <br />Agresta, Lori Borowski, Jan Scarl, Barb Robinson, Tom Herbster, David Peltz, Mary Ramirez, Barb <br />Seman, Assistant Law Director B. O'Malley, Civil Service Secretary D. Eccleston <br />DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: <br />The Civil Service minutes dated August 27, 2007 have been submitted for approval. <br />Mr. Ubaldi made a motion to accept the minutes as submitted. Mr. Hohmann seconded the <br />motion and unanimously approved. <br />COMMUNICATIONS: <br />There were 11 items of correspondence received and 7 items of correspondence sent out by the <br />Civil Service Commission. <br />There are several quests tonight; each guest introduced themselves and stated their reason why they <br />are in attendance. <br />OLD BUSINESS: <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />Review the Draft Rules and Regulations from the Law Department <br />The Safety Director has some concerns regarding the Rules and Regulations. <br />Police and Fire Agility Certification: Submit valid certifications to the Commission after receiving <br />ranking notification within ninety (90) days instead of sixty (60) days. A general discussion <br />followed concerning a delay in the hiring process; enough time for the candidates to obtain their <br />certification; avoid mass purging on the eligible lists. A suggestion was made that the appointing <br />authority may require the candidate to provide the agility certification at the time of the interview. <br />Another general discussion commenced regarding the agility certification is not as universal as a <br />Paramedic's License; not all municipalities require the certification; some municipalities have their <br />own private agility testing or none at all; testing may be in conjunction with the doctor's review. <br />Promotions: No candidate shall be eligible for a promotional examination to the rank immediately <br />above the rank of regular fireman or patrolman who has not served a minimum of forty-eight (48) <br />months instead of thirty-six (36) months in the rank of regular fireman or patrolman, not including <br />
