I. II. IV. V. CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED o� CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING CITY COUNCIL CAUCUS ROOM MINUTES — MAY 199 2005 7:00 P.M. ROLL CALL: Chairman M. Ubaldi called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. PRESENT: M. Ubaldi and W. Hohmann ALSO PRESENT: Assistant Law Director B. O'Malley, Civil Service Secretary D. Eccleston DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: The Civil Service minutes dated April 21, 2008 have been submitted for approval. A brief discussion commenced regarding a minor change in the heading of the minutes. Mr. Ubaldi made a motion to accept the amended minutes. Mr. Hohmann seconded the motion and unanimously approved. COMMUNICATIONS: There were 3 items of correspondence received and 3 items of correspondence sent out by the Civil Service Commission. The Commission received correspondence from the appointing authority regarding the suspension of Patrolman Brian Bielozer. An inquiry was made regarding any pertinent information concerning the suspension of Patrolman Bielozer. The appointing authority is providing the Commission with notice of the suspension that has taken place. There is a grievance procedure under the Collective Bargaining Agreement and that remedy has been involved. The Commission does not act in response to the notice of the appointing authority; the Commission would act and respond to an appeal, if any. The grievance is underway; therefore, an opinion is not necessary at this time. The Commission received seminar information from Northeast Ohio Association of Civil Service Commissioners and will decline the invitation. OLD BUSINESS: NEW BUSINESS: Review Preamble, Preface, Appendix and Definitions of the Rules and Regulations The Commission reviewed a draft memo regarding the Rules and Regulations handbook. The amended memo will be sent to all Directors and Department Heads before next meeting inviting all employees to discuss any questions, concerns or comments regarding the Rules and Regulations handbook.
