CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL CAUCUS ROOM <br />MINUTES - FEBRUARY 27, 2012 <br />7:00 P.M. <br />L ROLL CALL: Chairman J. Barrett called the meeting to order at 6:59 pm <br />PRESENT: J. Barrett, M. Ubaldi, and M, Hayes <br />ALSO PRESENT: Human Resources Director C. Farver, Recreation Commissioner B. Drenski, S. <br />Barrett, Asst. Law Director B. O'Malley, and Civil Service Secretary D. Eccleston <br />II. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: <br />The Civil Service minutes dated January 23, 2012 have been submitted for approval. <br />Mr. Barrett made a motion to accept the minutes as submitted. Mr. Ubaldi seconded and <br />unanimously approved. <br />III. COMMUNICATIONS: <br />There were 7 items of correspondence received and 8 items of correspondence sent out by the Civil <br />Service Commission, <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />Vacant Program Supervisor Position at Recreation Center <br />The Recreation Commissioner has requested of the Commission to exempt the Program Supervisor, <br />a classified position, from testing. The requirements meet the peculiar and exceptional <br />qualifications of scientific, managerial, professional or education character. The qualifications of <br />this position is a degree in recreation, a strong background in tennis and sports program <br />management, Karate, Zumba, past experience, marketing, accepting resumes, and interview process. <br />Not all classified positions can be filled through a classic, competitive exam. For example, the <br />Classified, Non -Competitive positions in the City are Chemist in the Treatment Plant, Building <br />Official with plumbing certification and Assistant Finance Director. The qualifications of the <br />Program Supervisor are unique and would not be practicable to test for this position. <br />Mr. Barrett made a motion that the Civil Service Commission designated the position of <br />Program Supervisor in the Recreation Department as classified, non-competitive. Mr. Ubaldi <br />seconded and unanimously approved. <br />
