CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL CAUCUS ROOM <br />MINUTES - MARCH 19, 2012 <br />7:00 P.M. <br />I. ROLL CALL: Chairman J. Barrett called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm <br />PRESENT: J. Barrett, M. Ubaldi and M. Hayes <br />ALSO PRESENT: Human Resources Director C. Farver, S. Barrett, Asst. Law Director B. O'Malley, and <br />Civil Service Secretary D. Eccleston <br />II. DISPOSITION OF MINUTES: <br />III. COMMUNICATIONS: <br />There were 3 items of correspondence received and 6 items of correspondence sent out by the Civil Service <br />Commission. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />Correction of t1:e January 23, 2012 Minutes <br />Mrs. Barrett was not in attendance at the January 23, 2012 meeting. <br />Mr. Barrett made a motion to amend the minutes. Mr. Ubaldi seconded and unanimously approved. <br />Approve The State Personnel Board of Review Annual Report for 2011 <br />A general discussion commenced regarding the Annual Report for 2011. <br />Mr. Barrett made a motion to accept the Annual Report of 2011. Mr. Ubaldi seconded the motion and <br />unanimously approved. <br />House Bill 187 went through a few years ago and coincided with the Commission's effort to review its rules. <br />Last summer House Bill 153 went through and there were a number of changes to State Law that could affect <br />the Commission's business. A general discussion commenced regarding Home Rule Authority, substantial <br />issues, mirroring the language in the Civil Service Rules, and a written outline of the State Law changes. <br />Legal Counsel can complete an initial summary of the highlights of the House Bill within a week and can <br />compose draft amendment changes to the rules and regulations thereafter. <br />VI. ADJOURNMENT: Mr. Barrett made a motion to adjourn at 7:10 pm.
