ARTS COMMISSION CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 17, 2021 ROLL CALL The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. via online public meeting. Present: Sue Collander, Keith Behrendt, Bryan O'Malley, Stephanie Procter, Leah Rogalski- Davis Absent: Janelle Zauner-Hoffart Staff. Planning Director Kim Lieber REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES Bryan moved, seconded by Leah, to approve the Arts Commission minutes of January 20, 2021, motion passed 5-0. COMMISSION ORGANIZATION Bryan moved, seconded by Sue, to nominate Keith for Chair, motion passed 5-0. Bryan moved, seconded by Sue, to nominate Leah for Vice Chair, motion passed 5-0. REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES Mayor's Art Show Keith said there was an article in the West Life newspaper including an interview with the arts teacher which was good publicity for the gallery. Kim said the majority of the artwork has been received and Nicole is working on putting it into the gallery template. The template will be more modern than the Veterans Art Gallery and will allow flexibility to highlight the seniors' work. More than 80 pieces of artwork from 31 artists and 13 seniors will be included. The Mayor will do an introductory video for the gallery. Keith will record a video on behalf of the Commission to welcome visitors to the gallery and highlight the work of the Commission. Kim suggested using some of the photos from the 2020 gallery in the video. The gallery dates have not been publicized to allow enough time for formatting once the art is received, but the beginning of March is still the goal. Daily Facebook posts will be shared to highlight each of the seniors. Grow Where You're Planted Kim shared the logo proposals to get Commission feedback. The logo needs to complement the City of North Olmsted and Tree City USA logos. The logo may be used on signage, banners, certificates, etc. Leah liked the logos that did not have a tree since the initiative is about general plantings and beautification. Discussion regarding icons, font and wording format on the proposed logos. Options P and C will be updated with the bud icon and weathered font for the Commission to look at. Public Art: Mural Kim created a procedural guide for commissioning public art to help with public art acquisitions.
