PLANNING & DESIGN COMMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 10, 2021 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Mr. Malone called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm via online public meeting. <br />Present: Greg Malone, Humberto Olivos, Julie Nader, Dave Anderson, Tom Patton <br />Absent: Darrick Matthews, Paul Schumann <br />Staff. Planning Director Kim Lieber, Assistant Law Director Bryan O'Malley, Administrative <br />Assistant Nicole Rambo -Ackerman <br />COMMISSION ORGANIZATION <br />Ms. Nader moved, seconded by Mr. Anderson, to elect Mr. Malone for Chair, motion <br />passed 5-0. <br />Mr. Malone moved, seconded by Mr. Anderson, to elect Ms. Nader for Vice Chair, motion <br />passed 5-0. <br />Mr. Malone moved, seconded by Ms. Nader, to appoint Mr. Schumann as the <br />representative to the Landmarks Commission, motion passed 5-0. <br />Ms. Nader moved, seconded by Mr. Malone, to appoint Mr. Matthews as the representative <br />to the Housing Council, motion passed 5-0. <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Mr. Malone moved, seconded by Ms. Nader, to approve the Planning & Design <br />Commission minutes of January 27, 2021, motion passed 5-0. <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />2015 Master Plan <br />Ms. Lieber said 2020 was the halfway point until the next master plan and a mini update was <br />proposed. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the review- with the consultant was unable to <br />proceed. The Commission is now undertaking a brief review of the action items to reprioritize if <br />necessary. The economic development and housing sections seemed to be the most urgent given <br />the recent effects of the pandemic, so those are to be discussed first. <br />Ms. Lieber briefly reviewed the economic development updates. She suggested using actionable <br />language for future items because the current economic development action items are more <br />difficult to measure than some of the other items. A full strategic economic plan has not been <br />created yet but the plan may have changed drastically over the last few- years. Staff have <br />supported mixed use development projects around the mall when they have come up, but the city <br />is not in the position to initiate proposals.
