PLANNING & DESIGN COMMISSION <br /> CITY OF' NORTH OLMSTED <br /> MINUTES OF AUGUST 24, 2022 <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Ms. Nader called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm via online public meeting. <br /> Present: Julie Nader. Dave Anderson. Mary Ellen Hemann. I lumherto Olivos. Tom Patton. <br /> Darrick Matthews <br /> Stall: Economic& Community Development Max Upton. Assistant Law Director Bryan <br /> O'Malley. Administrative Assistant Kristine Jones <br /> REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br /> Ms. Nader stated that she would like to table the minutes from June 22, 2022. <br /> MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS: <br /> SPRINGVALE BALLROOM LANDMARK DESIGNATION <br /> The Landmarks Commission Requests the Planning and Design Commission to provide a written <br /> statement concerning its recommendation as it relates to the master plan of the City. per codified <br /> ordinance 165.05. <br /> Representative: Sara Egan-Reeves, North Olmsted City Landmarks Commission. <br /> Ms. Sara Egan-Reeves. with the City of North Olmsted's Landmarks Commission presented a <br /> landmark designation proposal. She explained that in 2023 Springvale Ballroom will he <br /> celebrating its 100'^ anniversary and the North Olmsted Landmarks Commission is <br /> recommending that the City of North Olmsted designate this venue as an official city landmark. <br /> In order to designate Springvale Ballroom as a landmark evidence needs to he presented in <br /> accordance with codified ordinance 165.05 Designation of Landmarks. In 165.05 it states that <br /> two or more of the requirements must he met. Ms. Reeves referenced her proposal brochure and <br /> stated that they believe Springvale Ballroom meets designation requirements one and four from <br /> section 165.05. <br /> Section 165.05 Designation of Landmarks <br /> A. A building or other structure may he designated by the Commission as a landmark if the <br /> Commission determines_on the basis of the ec idence before it. that the building or other <br /> structure meets two or more of the following criteria: <br /> I. It has character. interest or value. as part of the development heritage or cultural <br /> characteristics of the City. State or nation: <br /> 2. It is the site of a historic event with an effect upon society: <br /> It is identified with a person or group of persons who had some influence on <br /> society: or <br /> 4 It exemplifies the cultural, political, economic. social or historic heritage of the <br /> community. <br />
