PLANNING & DESIGN COMMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MINUTES OF MARCH 23"'),2022 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Ms. Nader called the meeting to order at 7:04 put aia online meeting. <br />Present: Julie Nader, Duce Anderson. Mary Hen I lanann. Humberto Olicos <br />;Absent: Tom Patton, Darrick MaLLherls <br />Staff: I`conomic & CommunaN Dcaeloprnent Director Max Upton. Lata Assistant Director Brcan <br />O'VIallec_ City Planner Nahid Parsipour. <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINI TES <br />Ms. Nader moved, seconded by Mr. Anderson, to approve the Planning & Design <br />Commission minutes of February 119, 2022, motion passed 4-0. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />22-21355; Ashley Homestore; 26n20 Lorain Road <br />Proposal consists of a conditional use permit. Propertc is zoned B -J Mixed t Ise Rusiness. <br />Max l pton, director of Economic and Communitc Det elopntenl- reported on Ilse application. I le <br />stated that the application is for it pre -wishing buildinL, and that our department supports this <br />application because the facilitc has been vacant lot sonic time. Ms. Nader inquired about the <br />Building Department report, to which Mr. Upton unsevered that he stated Ibr both departments. <br />Because it tans reusing an esisline building,. there was no engineering report. Then- Timothy <br />Quinn. an Ashley Furniture representative, begun to explain the project. Ile stated that his <br />company. Wellsaille Carpel lotvn Incorporated- is known as the 0.clls ille group and explained <br />the histor} of his compan} I he reason thee decided to moee to a new place was their neat concept <br />of harm,_ lareer tbotprint to serve their costumers faster. Mr. Olicos stated that he likes the idea <br />of haeinc Ashler furniture there and recommended that they need eood signage and directions <br />and make sure the owner keep laking cure of landscaping. <br />Ms. I Icmann asked if Mr. Quinn knows about the vacant prupertc nest to the neat Ashler furniture <br />building and if the owner discussed with ane Campanian tenants or if Mr. Quinn have considered <br />his carpet store as the companion tenant. Yhr. Quinn answered that the ansrer for both questions <br />is no. <br />Ms. Nader asked if the store is sotuctvhere that people purchase the furniture and pick it up at the <br />facility or it is something topically Ihey purchase the furniture at the lucilitc and then pick up frorn <br />another facility_ Mr. Quinn answered it is a little bit of both because most of their customers prefer <br />the lumilure be delivered to them. He added most of their dchieerc to and from the store happens <br />in the morning. <br />Ms. Nader moved to approve this conditional use permit for the Ashle} Homestore, 22-21355, <br />zoned B -a Mixed Ilse Business. <br />Mr. Anderson seconded that, motion passed 4-0. <br />
