BUILDING & ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS
CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
MEETING MINUTES FOR FEBRUARY 3, 2025
ROLL CALL
Mr. Kovach called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. in Council Chambers.
Present: Bob Papotto, Ralph Mackey, Roxana Galanteanu, Mike Kovach, Neil Ammons
Staff: Building Coordinator Katie Seeley, Law Director Michael Gareau, Administrative
Assistant Lyn Wilson
MEETING MINUTES
The meeting minutes of January 6, 2025 were approved; all in favor, none opposed.
RESIDENTIAL APPEALS AND REQUESTS
213-2025; Craig Neumann; 27295 Nantucket Dr.
Representative: Craig Neumann
A home addition was presented, with a variance request for a 2.8 -foot reduction in the minimum
width of the side yard. The code required a combined sum of 15 feet, while the applicant
proposed 12.2 feet. The applicant explained that the variance would allow for an addition to the
first floor, providing more comfort, especially for a family member experiencing difficulty. They
explored various options, and adding on was the only viable choice.
The building department confirmed that the proposed plan was the best option for the applicant
and had no objections. The applicant did not wish to sell the house, as they lilted their current
residence. The applicant had lived in the house since 1985.
Board members asked if there had been any communication from the neighbors. The applicant
confirmed that they had spoken with the neighbor on one side. One board member inquired if the
applicant had considered different layouts for the addition. The applicant responded that they
hadn't gotten professionals involved but believed the proposed layout would accommodate the
desired features, including a shower and closet space.
No further questions were raised, and no additional comments were made.
Mr. Mackey moved to approve 213-2025; Craig Neumann; 27295 Nantucket Dr.; seconded by
Mr. Papotto.
