LANDMARKS COMMISSION <br /> CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br /> MINUTES OF MAY 8TH, 2023 <br /> 7:00 PM <br /> Mr. Neville called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm via online meeting. <br /> Present:David Neville,Tom Dubowski,Jim Morse,Gretchen Schuler,Duane Limpert,Sarah Egan- <br /> Reeves <br /> Absent:Elizabeth Kukwa,James Gearhart <br /> Staff:Administrative Secretary Lyn Wilson,City Planner Nahid Parsipour <br /> COMMISSION ORGANIZATION <br /> Vice Chair Election <br /> Mr. Limpert moved, seconded by Mr. Neville,to nominate Ms. Egan-Reeves for vice Chair, Ms. <br /> Egan-Reeves accepted the nomination and then motion passed 6-0. <br /> Mr. Dubowski moved, seconded by Mr. Gearhart,to excuse the absences of Ms. Kukwa, Ms. <br /> Egan-Reeves and Mr.Anderson.Motion passed 6-0. <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> Springvale Sub-Committee Update <br /> During the Springvale dance party update, Ms. Schuler shared exciting news about the sub- <br /> committee's progress. Alongside Ms. Parsipour and Ms. Egan-Reeves, they have been actively <br /> working on organizing the event.Ms.Schuler shared the key details: <br /> The dance party is scheduled to take place on Thursday May 18th,from 6pm to 9pm.Tickets will <br /> be available for purchase at the door for $10 each. Attendees are encouraged to dress up in <br /> outfits that reflect different generations of dancing, adding to the vibrant atmosphere. A cash <br /> bar will be available, ensuring everyone can enjoy their favorite refreshments.The highlight of <br /> the evening will be dance performances showcasing the evolution of dance over the past 100 <br /> years, with each decade represented. The committee has gathered some fascinating historical <br /> items to be displayed,allowing attendees to appreciate the rich heritage of Springvale.A running <br /> slide show will provide additional entertainment and capture memorable moments throughout <br /> the event.Other exciting details were reported,including various fun activities and surprises that <br /> will make it a night to remember. Mr. Neville, representing the school district, expressed their <br /> interest in participating in the 100th anniversary celebration. However,they have not provided <br /> any details yet.Ms.Schuler suggested the students can receive a tour at Springvale. Mr.Limpert <br /> highlighted that the 3rd graders have a history lesson, and there may be an opportunity to <br /> connect their curriculum to the local history of our city.Mr.Morse suggested integrating physical <br /> education elements that focus on dances from specific time periods. <br /> REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> The Landmarks Commission minutes of January 23, 2023 were submitted for approval at the <br /> meeting.There were some corrections. <br />
