CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 2005-183 BY: THE MAYOR AND THE ENTIRE CITY COUNCIL A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ACHIEVEMENT BY JOHN JECKER OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD IN BOY SCOUTING WHEREAS, this Council and Administration recognize and reaffirm their dedication to organized Scouting; and WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration further recognize that those participating in Scouting, both the youth and their leaders, are an invaluable asset to the community and the Nation, and that the ideals of Scouting, the Scout Oath and the Scout Law are commitments that all citizens should strive for; and WHEREAS, when one of our young citizens has been committed to Scouting to such an extent that he earns the rank of Eagle Scout, it is truly a noteworthy accomplishment; and WHEREAS, JOHN began his Scouting career as a Cub Scout in Pack 332, earning the Arrow of Light and Parvuli Dei awards; and WHEREAS, JOHN, as a Boy Scout, has held various positions in the troop including Chaplain's Aid, Chief Cook, Grub Master, Patrol Leader and Senior Patrol Leader; he is a member of the Order of The Arrow and earned his Pope Pius XII award; he has attended monthly campouts and summer camp for seven years, and at Seven Ranges, JOHN earned his 5`h Year Pipestone award (Camp Honors); and WHEREAS, JOHN, in achieving his Eagle Scout Award earned twenty -nine Merit Badges; and WHEREAS, JOHN'S Eagle Scout Project was conducted at the Arrupe Neighborhood Partnership Home. His project consisted of building shelves in the basement to store and organize all of the equipment, clothes and food for 1-he St. Benedict Joseph Labre Ministry to the Homeless; the shelves allowed the items to be organized and well kept for i11e organization; and WHEREAS, JOHN, is a senior at St. Ignatius High School and has received first honors every semester; he has participated in many service activities at school, including the St. Joseph Labre Ministry to the Homeless, the St. Joseph of Arimethia Pall Bearers, and the Red Cross Blood Drive; he is the President of the PEZ Club, a National Merit Commended Student, and a Eucharistic Minister; and WHEREAS, JOHN, after graduation from high school, will attend the University of Toledo to study Pharmacy; and WHEREAS, the reception of the Eagle Scout Award by JOHN JECKER is a noteworthy accomplishment deserving of the congratulations of the entire community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION l: That this Council and City Administration extend best wishes and heartiest congratulations to JOHN DECKER on his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout.
