a <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2005 - 126 <br />By: Mayor O'Grady <br />}. <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ADOPTION OF THE <br />MITIGATION PLAN, AS REQUIRED BY THE DISASTER <br />MITIGATIONACT OF 2000, PREPARED BY THE CUYAHOGA <br />COUNTY DIVISION OF EMERGENCY SERVICES ENTITLED, <br />"COUNTYWIDE ALL NATURAL HAZARDS MITIGATION <br />PLAN FOR CUYAHOGA COUNTY, " AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, hazard mitigation is any sustainable action taken to reduce or eliminate <br />damage from future disaster; and <br />WHEREAS, the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires all communities that desire to <br />apply for mitigation programs have an all- natural hazard mitigation plan; and <br />WHEREAS, the all- natural hazard mitigation plan must meet the criteria established by the <br />Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA); and <br />WHEREAS, for disasters that are declared after November 1, 2004 the local government <br />must have an approved mitigation plan; and <br />WHEREAS, the Cuyahoga County Board of Commissioners received a grant for the <br />Cuyahoga County Division of Emergency Services to prepare such a mitigation plan which is <br />entitled the "Countywide All Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan for Cuyahoga County;" and <br />WHEREAS, there must be documentation that the plan has been formally adopted by the <br />government body of the jurisdiction requesting approval of the plan (e.g., City Council, Cuyahoga <br />Commissioners); and <br />WHEREAS, each jurisdiction requesting approval of the plan must document that the plan <br />has been formally adopted; and <br />WHEREAS, the Council of the City of North Olmsted has reviewed the "Countywide All <br />Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan for Cuyahoga County;" <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />
