CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2005-122 <br />BY: THE MAYOR AND THE ENTIRE CITY COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ACHIEVEMENT BY <br />DANIEL ALBERT GRIFFIN <br />OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD IN BOY SCOUTING <br />WHEREAS, this Council and Administration recognize and reaffirm their dedication to organized <br />Scouting; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration further recognize that those participating in Scouting, <br />both the youth and their leaders, are an invaluable asset to the community and the Nation, and that the ideals of <br />Scouting, the Scout Oath and the Scout Law are commitments that all citizens should strive for; and <br />WHEREAS, when one of our young citizens has been committed to Scouting to such an extent that he <br />earns the rank of Eagle Scout, it is truly a noteworthy accomplishment; and <br />WHEREAS, DANIEL, began his Scouting career as a Cub Scout, and he earned the Arrow of Light <br />Award, the highest honor in Cub Scouting; he has attended summer camps and received the Camper of the <br />Week Award from Troop 664 at the 2004 summer camp; and <br />WHEREAS, DANIEL is currently a member of Boy Scout Troop 664 and has held several leadership <br />positions including Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, Junior Assistant Scoutmaster and <br />Troop Bugler; and <br />WHEREAS, DANIEL, in achieving his Eagle Scout Award has earned 24 Merit Badges; and <br />WHEREAS, DANIEL'S Eagle Scout project benefited Mrs. Briggs' fourth grade classroom at Chestnut <br />School in North Olmsted. His project involved the construction of two bookshelves for the classroom. The <br />students had no place to keep their textbooks and materials other than a small cubby beneath their desks. The <br />bookshelves provided the children with needed space and helped Mrs. Briggs organize her classroom; and <br />WHEREAS, DANIEL, while an active Scout also participated in school activities by volunteering for <br />the Empty Bowls for Hunger and spaghetti dinner fundraisers over the past two and a half years; he participated <br />in school track; he excelled in Wood Shop classes and received the Student of the Year Award in Advanced <br />Wood Shop; and <br />WHEREAS, DANIEL plans to attend college, and in the future he hopes to pursue his interest in <br />aviation. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council and City Administration extend best wishes and heartiest <br />congratulations to DANIEL ALBERT GRIFFIN on his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to <br />DANIEL ALBERT GRIFFIN. <br />Passed: <br />arbara L.
