CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 2005 - 91 By: Mayor O'Grady A RESOLUTION A UTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO FILE AN APPLICATION FOR A FISCAL YEAR 2005 HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT, FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE GRANT, IF AWARDED, AND TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE RECEIPT OF THE GRANT, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the North Olmsted Police Department is in need of updated communications and Tactical Unit Surveillance and Protective Equipment; and WHEREAS, the Federal Government, through the Department of Homeland Security, is offering grant money in the amount of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00) for purchase of these items; and WHEREAS, the State of Ohio Emergency Management Agency is administering these grant funds that would pay for the cost of these requested items; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Chief of Police to file an Application for the FY 2005 Homeland Security Grant funded through the Federal Department of Homeland Security and administered by the Ohio Management Agency, and to further authorize the Mayor to accept the grant, if awarded, and to execute all documents necessary to effectuate receipt of the grant; NO W, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED B Y THE CO UNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That the Chief of Police be and is hereby authorized to file an Application for the FY 2005 Homeland Security Grant funded through the Federal Department of Homeland Security and administered by the Ohio Emergency Management Agency to obtain updated communications and Tactical Unit Surveillance and Protective Equipment. It is not necessary for the City of North Olmsted to match any funds received. SECTION 2: That the Mayor be, and he hereby is, authorized to accept the grant, if awarded, on behalf of the City of North Olmsted and to execute all documents necessary to effectuate receipt of the grant.
