CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2005 — 38 <br />BY: Mayor O'Grady <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF LAW TO <br />APPLY TO CLEVELAND STATE UNIVERSITY FOR A FEDERAL <br />WORK -STUDY AWARD FOR PAYMENT OF A PORTION OF THE <br />COMPENSATION OF THE CITY'S LAW CLERKS FOR THE PERIOD <br />2005 -2006, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A <br />CONTRACT WITH CLEVELAND STATE UNIVERSITY REGARDING <br />THE SAME, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Director of Law has requested authorization to apply to Cleveland State <br />University to participate in a federal work study program that would pay Seventy -Five (75 %) <br />Percent of the amount of grant that the students would qualify for during the period 2005 -2006; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to so authorize the Director of Law, and to <br />further authorize the Mayor to execute an agreement with Cleveland State University providing <br />for the terms and conditions of participation in said program. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMS TED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l: That the Director of Law be and he hereby is authorized to apply to <br />Cleveland State University to participate in a federal work study program that would provide an <br />award for payment for each of the City's law clerks during the period 2005 -2006, and further <br />that the Mayor be and he hereby is authorized to execute a contract with Cleveland State <br />University providing for the terms and conditions of the City's participation in said program. <br />The contract shall be substantially in the form of the "Federal Community Service Learning <br />Program Agreement" attached to this Ordinance as Exhibit A. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and for the <br />further reason that it is necessary for this Resolution to go into effect immediately because of the <br />filing deadline for the application, and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two - <br />thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force upon its passage and <br />approval by the Mayor. <br />
