<br />BY: THE MAYOR AND THE ENTIRE CITY COUNCIL
<br />A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ACHIEVEMENT BY
<br />TIM WATSON
<br />OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD IN BOY SCOUTING
<br />WHEREAS, this Council and Administration recognize and reaffirm their dedication to organized Scouting; and
<br />WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration further recognize that those participating in Scouting, both the
<br />youth and their leaders, are an invaluable asset to the community and the Nation, and that the ideals of Scouting, the Scout
<br />Oath and the Scout Law are commitments that all citizens should strive for; and
<br />WHEREAS, when one of our young citizens has been committed to Scouting to such an extent that he earns the
<br />rank of Eagle Scout, it is truly a noteworthy accomplishment; and
<br />WHEREAS, TIM began his Scouting career in 1993 when he jointed Tiger Cub Pack 52 at Forest School, and as
<br />an active member of the Pack he earned the Arrow of Light Award, the highest award in Cub Scouting; and
<br />WHEREAS, TIM, at age 10, crossed over into Boy Scout Troop 53, and he has held the leadership positions of
<br />Historian, Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Junior Assistant Scoutmaster; and, while
<br />serving as Patrol Leader, the Shark Patrol became the first patrol in the Troop to earn the Baden - Powell Honor Patrol
<br />Award; and
<br />WHEREAS, throughout his Scouting career, TIM participated in many activities and service projects including
<br />attending summer camps at Camp Merz in New York and Camp Liberty in Pennsylvania; and he was elected by his
<br />fellow Scouts to the Order of the Arrow, the BSA Honor Camper society; and he represented his Troop by organizing a
<br />color guard for the flag raising at the new North Olmsted library, and he participated in the color guard for the High
<br />School's Salute to Veterans; and
<br />WHEREAS, TIM, in achieving his Eagle Scout Award has earned 31 Merit Badges and the Catholic Ad Altare
<br />Dei Award; and, since becoming an Eagle Scout, he has earned a Bronze and Gold Eagle Pin; and
<br />WHEREAS, TIM'S Eagle Scout Project was building a new Safety Town for the North Olmsted Police
<br />Department. He designed and constructed four playhouse -sized buildings to meet the Police Department's criteria for a
<br />strong, safe, portable setup. TIM secured donations of materials and funds and, with the help of his fellow Scouts and
<br />their parents, completed the project for use in 2003; the project continued with help in dismantling and transporting the
<br />buildings for storage; and
<br />WHEREAS, while participating in these many Scouting activities, TIM, a senior at North Olmsted High School,
<br />has been a Renaissance Scholar since Freshman year, has earned an Academic Letter; is a member of the SITES program;
<br />is currently serving a president of the Key Club; is a member of the Marching Band, Wind Ensemble and Pep Band
<br />becoming first chair, section leader and is currently president of the NOHS band and is earning a band letter; he is a
<br />member of the National Honor Society, Junior State of America and has been a thespian with the Eagle's Nest Theatre; he
<br />has lettered each year as a member of the swim team and holds BSA and Red Cross lifeguard certification; and
<br />WHEREAS, TIM is an active member of St. Richard's Church where he has served as an acolyte since fifth grade.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED,
<br />COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO:
<br />SECTION 1: That this Council and City Administration extend best wishes and heartiest congratulations to TIM
<br />WATSON on his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout.
<br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council be, and she is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to
<br />TIM WATSON.
