CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2005-4 <br />BY: THE MAYOR AND THE ENTIRE CITY COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ACHIEVEMENT BY <br />BRIAN BOGUSKI <br />OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD IN BOY SCOUTING <br />WHEREAS, this Council and Administration recognize and reaffirm their dedication to organized Scouting; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration further recognize that those participating in Scouting, both the <br />youth and their leaders, are an invaluable asset to the community and the Nation, and that the ideals of Scouting, the Scout <br />Oath and the Scout Law are commitments that all citizens should strive for; and <br />WHEREAS, when one of our young citizens has been committed to Scouting to such an extent that he earns the <br />rank of Eagle Scout, it is truly a noteworthy accomplishment; and <br />WHEREAS, BRIAN began his Scouting career in 1994 when he joined North Olmsted Pack 53 at Pine <br />Elementary School, where his father was his den leader, and in fifth grade he earned the Arrow of Light Award, which is <br />the highest award in Cub Scouting; and <br />WHEREAS, since joining Troop 53, BRIAN has served in several leadership positions including Assistant Patrol <br />Leader, Quartermaster, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and Venture Crew Chief; and <br />WHEREAS, throughout his Scouting career, BRIAN has been an active member of Troop 53 participating in <br />many events including camping trips, summer camps, service projects, meetings and fundraisers; and BRIAN was <br />selected by his fellow Scouts to be a member of the Order of the Arrow; and <br />WHEREAS, BRIAN, in achieving his Eagle Scout Award earned 30 Merit Badges; and <br />WHEREAS, BRIAN'S Eagle Scout Project involved the construction of a portable microgravity demonstrator for <br />the North Olmsted Science Department, and with the help of fellow Scouts, Brian was able to design, construct, and <br />demonstrate the unit for the middle school science classes. The project consists of a storage box equipped with a PVC <br />drop tower and a drop box. The drop box includes a camera that records the behaviors of various experiments in a low - <br />gravity environment, and the final project replaced a unit that was previously demonstrated for the school by Mr. Dan <br />Watson from NASA until the demonstrator program was discontinued; and <br />WHEREAS, while undertaking all these Scouting projects, BRIAN, a senior at North Olmsted High School, <br />participated in many school activities including varsity football, a vocal jazz ensemble called Special Edition, the North <br />Olmsted High School American Idol show and the OBOBA talent show; and <br />WHEREAS, BRIAN, a member of the National Honor Society, hopes to graduate with an Honors Diploma in <br />June of 2005 and plans to pursue a college degree in Mechanical Engineering; and <br />WHEREAS, the reception of the Eagle Scout Award by BRIAN BOGUSKI is a noteworthy accomplishment <br />deserving of the congratulations of the entire community. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, <br />COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council and City Administration extend best wishes and heartiest congratulations to <br />BRIAN BOGUSKI on his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council be, and she is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to <br />BRIAN BOGUSKI. <br />Passed: <br />_ 7 <br />At4st; ; <br />Barbara L.
