CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ORDINANCE NO. 2005 - 2 BY: The Entire City Council AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING AND FIXING THE COMPENSATION FOR THE PRESIDENT OF COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED FOR THE TERM OF OFFICE COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 2006 AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2009 AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of North Olmsted, at Article IV, Section 6, requires the Council to fix the compensation for all elected officials at least thirty (30) days prior to the filing date of nominating petitions for terms beginning on the next succeeding 1St day of January; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to establish the compensation for all elected officials in compliance with the Charter requirements. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That the salary to be paid to the President of Council for the term commencing January 1, 2006 and ending December 31, 2009 shall be as follows: Effective January 1, 2006 through December 31, 2006 - $12,414 Effective January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2007 - $12,414 Effective January 1, 2008 through December 31, 2008 - $12,578 Effective January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2009 - $12,742 SECTION 2: That the compensation as specified in Section 1 hereof is being established only for the purpose of complying with Charter requirements as outlined in Article IV, Section 6, and in no way affect any of the other provisions of any ordinance relating to the organizational chart of either administrative or legislative officers. SECTION 3: That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and for the further reason that it is immediately necessary to comply with the requirements of the Charter of the City of North Olmsted regarding the establishment of salaries at least thirty (30) days prior to the filing of nominating petitions, and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two - thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
