<br />A RESOLUTION TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF
<br />COUNCIL MEMBER RONALD JAMES TALLON, SR.
<br />WHEREAS, this Council, exactly 16 years ago to the day, on December 18, 1991, adopted Resolution 9i-192,
<br />honoring and Commending RONALD JAMES TALLON, SR. for his then thirteen years of public service to the City of
<br />North Olmsted, first as a member of the Board of Building Code Appeals from 1979-1984, then as Councilman from
<br />1984-1989, and then again as Councilman from 1990-1991; and
<br />WHEREAS, RONALD JAMES TALLON, SR. subsequently returned to public service the following year in
<br />1992 and served two five-year terms as a member of the Planning Commission, including six years as Commission
<br />Chairman from 1995 through 2001, during which time he always insisted and insured that commercial developers
<br />submitted lighting plans that would cause no nuisance lighting or glare in nearby residenrial neighborhoods; and
<br />WHERBAS, RONALD JAMES TALLON, SR., after complering 10 years on the Planning Commission and
<br />departing from public service a second time, was called again to serve his City in 2005-this time in order to complete
<br />the uiiexpired term of departing Councilwoman at Large Carolyn Kasler, which prompted some in the City government,
<br />who noted that Ron's years of public service stretched back into the mid 20"' century, to compare him to baseball legend
<br />Minnie Minoso and demand that, before being pernutted to hold public office a third time, he first be compelled to takE
<br />a test to determine whether he was taking performance enhancing drugs; and
<br />WHEREAS, RONALD JAMES TALLON, SR. has again served with disrinction in his third round of public
<br />s?,ivice to the City of North Olmsted, most notably in his two years as Chairperson of Council's Finance Committee; and
<br />WHEREAS, in addition to his public serviee, RONALD JAMES TALLON, SR. has been actively involved for
<br />many years in many civic, religious, fraternal and union associarions, including IBEW Local 38, the St. Edward and
<br />Magnificat Fathers Clubs, the Forest-Laurell Woods Civic Association, St. Richard's Church, the American Legion, the
<br />\ortli Olmsted Democrat Club, aud the Cuyahoga County Democrat Executive Conlmittee; and
<br />TVHEREAS, RONALD JAMES TALLON, SR. graduated from West Tech High School; served with honor in
<br />the Ohio National Guard; worked many years in the electrical construction trade, and served his brother Linion menlbers
<br />for seven years as the Treasurer-Manager of the Wireman's Credit Union; and
<br />If'HEREAS, RONALD JAMES TALLON, SR. is an exemplary family man. He has been married to Karen
<br />for 39 years, and together they have brought into the world and cherished two wonderful children-son Ronald Jr. and
<br />daughter Amy; and they now are reaping the benefits of being good parents by having the opportunity to spoil three
<br />grandchildren-R. J., Emily and Abigail-with a fourth grandchild on the way this coming February; and
<br />6VFIEREAS, despite all the time RONALD JAMES TALLON, SR. has devoted to public office, community
<br />service, work and family, he still has found time to become a very good golfer-which has prompted an entirely
<br />diff'erent group of people to demaud that he be tested for performance enhancing drugs; and
<br />WHEREAS, RONALD JAMES TALLON, SR. has used his God-given abilities and talents to help the
<br />residents of the City of North Olmsted, all of whom have prospered while he has served them in various offices as their
<br />public servant;
<br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED,
<br />COLINTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO:
<br />SECTION 1: That the Council of the City of North Olmsted, on behalf of the Mayor, members of the
<br />administration aiid all the residents of the City hereby for a second time honors RONALD JAMES TALLON, SR.
<br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution be spread in full upon the record of this Councii and that the Clerk of
<br />Council is hereby directed to forward a duly authenticated and executed copy of this Resolution to RONALD JAMES
<br />TALLON, SR.
<br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution shall be in effect from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
