` .? <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2007 -137 <br />By: Mayor O'Grady <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF PQLICE TO <br />APPLY FOR A GRANT FROM THE CUYAHOGA COUNTY <br />SAFE KIDS/SAFE COMMUNITIES COALITION TO <br />REIMBURSE THE CITY FOR FUNDS THAT WILL BE <br />EXPENDED ON INCREASED POLICE PATROLS FOR THE <br />PURPOSE OF DETERRING MOTORISTS FROM DRIVING <br />WHILE INTOXICATED; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE <br />MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE GRANT, IF AWARDED, AND TO <br />EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH THE SAID COALITION; AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Chief of Police desires to apply for a grant in the maximum amount of Four <br />Thousand Dollars ($4,000) from the Cuyahoga County Safe Kids/Safe Communities Coalition for <br />the purpose of reimbursing the City for funds expended on increased patrols for the purpose of <br />deterring motorists from driving while intoxicated; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Chief of Police to apply for the <br />said grant and to further authorize the Mayor to accept the grant, if it is awarded, and to execute a <br />contract with the Cuyahoga County Safe Kids/Safe Communities Coalition; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL vED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Chief of Police be and is hereby authorized to apply for a grant f:.:m <br />the Cuyahoga County Safe Kids/Safe Communities Coalition and the Mayor is further authorized to <br />accept any such grant awarded and to enter into a contract with the Cuyahoga County Safe Kids/Safe <br />Communities Coalition, in the form of the contract attached to this Resolution as Exhibit A. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and for the <br />reasoii that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately in order to obtain funding <br />for increased patrols to protect the public against intoxicated motorists, and fiirther provided it <br />receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in <br />force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
