<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2007 - 38 <br />By: Mayor O'Grady <br />AN ORDINANCE CREATING NEW CHAPTER 913 OF THE STREETS, <br />UTILITIES AND PUBLIC SERVICES CODE, ENTITLED "FATS, OILS AND <br />GREASE - INTERCEPTOR INSTALLATION AND WASTE DISPOSAL, " AND <br />AMENDING SECTION 911.12(c)(3) AND REPEALING SECTION 911.12(e) OF <br />THE NORTH OLMSTED CODIFIED ORDINANCES, AS AMENDED. <br />WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant <br />Pretreatment Coordinator to adopt a model ordinance regulating the disposal of fats, oils and <br />grease from certain establishments in the City of North Olmsted, in order to protect the City's <br />sanitary sewer system and the environment, and reduce operational and maintenance costs at <br />the Wastewater Treatment Plant associated with the accumulation of grease within collection <br />system lines; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council, acting upon the said recommendation, to <br />create new Chapter 913 of the Streets, Utilities and Public Services Code, entitled "Fats, Oils <br />and Grease - Interceptor Installation and Waste Disposal," and further to amend Section <br />911.12(c)(3) and repeal Section 911.12(e) of the North Olmsted Codified Ordinances; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />YORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That there be and hereby is created new Chapter 913 of the Streets, <br />Utilities, and Public Services Code, entitled "Fats, Oils and Grease - Interceptor Installation <br />and Waste Disposal," which, as created, shall read in its entirety as amended Exhibit A <br />attached hereto, and which is incorporated hereof as if fully rewritten herein. <br />SECTION 2: That Section 911.12 of the North Olmsted Codified Ordinances, <br />entitled "Use of Public Sewers," which presently reads as follows: <br />911.12 USE OF PUBLIC SEWERS. <br />(a) No person shall discharge or cause to be discharged any stormwater, surface <br />water, ground water, roof runoff, subsurface drainage, uncontaminated cooling water or <br />unpolluted industrial process waters to any sanitary sewer. <br />(b) Stormwater, surface drainage, subsurface drainage, groundwater, roof <br />runoff, cooling water and all other unpolluted drainage shall be discharged to such sewers <br />as are specifically designated as storm sewers or to a natural outlet approved by the City <br />Engineer. No persons shall use any such sewers without first having obtained the consent <br />and permits from the City Engineer. <br />(1) Industrial cooling water or unpolluted processed waters may be <br />
