4 <br />,---, <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2007 - 93 <br />BY: Mayar O'Grady <br />AN ORDINANCE RE-A UTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC <br />SAFETY TO APPOINT A TEMPORARY, PART-TIME FIRE <br />ADMINISTRATOR TO ASSIST THE NEW ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF; RE- <br />ESTABLISHING THE PAY RANGE FOR SAID TEMPORARY POSITION; <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, due to the extended absence from duty of the former Assistant Fire Chief in <br />2006 and 2007, this Council, at the request of the Administration, first adopted Ordinance 2006- <br />157 (effective September 12, 2006) and then Ordinance 2007-24 (effective March 6, 2007), <br />respectively creating and then extending a temporary part-time position of Fire Administrator in <br />the North Olmsted Fire Department in order to provide assistance to the Fire Chief; and <br />WHEREAS, said temporary part-time position ended, pursuant to the provisions of <br />Ordinance 2007-24, on July 10, 2007 when the City's new Assistant Fire Chief was appointed; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Administration has now requested that the said temporary position be <br />reauthorized for an additional period of sixty (60) days in arder to provide needed professional <br />training assistance to the new Assistant Fire Chief, who, prior to his appointment as Assistant <br />Fire Chief, held the position of Firefighter/Paramedic and had no command or administrative <br />experience; and <br />WHEREAS, said professional training assistance will include training in plans reviews, <br />inspections of new construction, Fire Code inspections, assistance with shift inspections, run <br />report reviews, report auditing for errors, data input, statistical computations, and providing <br />updates and corrections to standard operating procedure and guidelines in the Fire Department; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, in the opinion of the Director of Public Safety and the Fire Chief, it is <br />vital to the mission of the Fire Department that such professional training assistance be <br />immediately provided to the Assistant Fire Chief; and <br />WHEREAS, acting on the recommendation of the Director of Public Safety and the Fire <br />Chief, it is the desire of this Council to re-authorize the Director of Public Safety to appoint a <br />temporary, part-time Fire Administrator for an additional sixty (60) days in order to provide vital <br />professional training assistance to the new Assistant Fire Chief; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />
