A"*_ <br />??. ;. <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2007 - 97 <br />BY: The Entire City Council and the Mayor <br />A RESOL UTION IN REMEMBRANCE OF THE SIX YEAR <br />ANNIVERSARY OF THE TERRORIST EVENTS OF SEPTEMBER <br />11, 2001 THAT RESULTED IN THE DEATHS OF THOUSANDS OF <br />INNOCENT VICTIMS, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001, nearly 3000 innocent victims' lives were <br />lost in an unprecedented terrorist attack upon the financial and governmental centers of <br />America; and <br />WHEREAS, this City Council, on the one-year anniversary of that attack, paid <br />tribute to the safety forces of New York city, many of whom lost their lives that day, by <br />adopting Resolution 2002-126, which designated September 11 every year as National <br />Safety Forces Appreciation Day in the City of North Olmsted; and <br />WHEREAS, in addition to recognizing the Safety Forces and all others who <br />played a role on September 11, 2001 in bringing people to safety or who lent aid and <br />comfort to people injured that day, this Council also desires to remember on this day the <br />innocent victims of that terrorist attack and to condemn all acts of terrorism presently <br />occurring throughout the world, which almost every day are occasioning the loss of more <br />innocent lives; <br />NO W THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED B Y THE CO UNCIL OF THE CIT Y <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council remembers on the sixth anniversary of the <br />September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on America's financial and governmental centers, all <br />of the innocent victims whose lives ended on that day. <br />SECTION 2: That this Council expresses its condemnation in the strongest terms <br />for all acts of terrorism presently occurring throughout the world, which continue to take <br />the lives of more innocent victims. <br />SECTION 3: That this Council urges the residents of North Olmsted, and all <br />other Americans, to take time on this day to remember how much more precious life and <br />freedom has become to Americans since the events of September 11, 2001, and to <br />dedicate themselves to stand together and face terrorism with resolve and courage while <br />at the same time continuing to preserve and protect the basic freedoms in this country that <br />have historically made America the beacon of liberty to the rest of the world.
