<br />CITY OF NORTH OLM5TED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2004 -159 <br />BY: Mayor Musial <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC <br />SERVICE TO SOLICIT BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF EIGHT <br />THOUSAND (8,000) TONS OF ROCK SALT FOR ICE AND SNOW <br />REMOVAL PER SPECIFICATIONS ON FILE IN HIS OFFICE, AND <br />AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR <br />SAID PURCHASE SUBJECT ?'O APPROYAL BY THE BOARD OF <br />CONTROL, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, specifica.tions for the purchase of Eight Thousand (8,000) tons of <br />rock salt for ice and snow removal have been prepared and are on file in the Office of the <br />Director of Public Service; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Public <br />Service to advertise for bids for said purchase of Eight Thousand (5,000) tons of rock salt <br />and to authorize the Mayor, upon approval of the Board of Control, to enter into a <br />contract with the lowest and best bidder. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Public Service be and he is hereby authorized <br />to advertise for bids for the purchase of Eight Thousand (8,000) tons of rock salt in <br />accordance with specifications now on file in his office, and further that, upon approval <br />by the Board of Control, the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a contract and <br />execute same on behalf of the City of North Olmsted. <br />SECTION 2: That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and <br />for the further reason that it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately so <br />that salt can be purchased before inclement weather arrives, and further provided it <br />receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect <br />and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
