. .. .. •.. ?,oo-..? .?,»?,.,;?n?,?;e?. .x,?..b,w., f . , . ?.-. ..w-z ...?as?;?a ?r ? -,????m+???..x?, ?,r, . :. . , . .,3+ ? , I?- .. .. .. . <br />. .,:_ ? . , .. _ ._ ,.. <br />t ' <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2004 - 32 <br />BY: Councilman Gareau <br />A RESOL UTION PROCLAIMING APRIL AS FAIR HQiISING MONTH IN <br />NORTH OLMSTED AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted actively, creatively and affirmatively <br />promotes fair housing in its policies and practices; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council wishes to reaffirm and support the constitutional right <br />of all citizens, regardless of race, religion, sex, national origin, handicap, or familial <br />status to enjoy equal access to housing and to reside in communities that provide <br />integrated and balanced living patterns. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: This Council hereby designates April as Fair Housing Month in the <br />City of North Olmsted, and reaffirms its commitment to the principles guaranteed under <br />the Fair Housing Act. <br />SECTION 2: This Council hereby joins the rest of the nation in rededicating <br />itself to combating unlawful housing discrimination and encouraging the development of <br />balanced residential living patterns, both in the greater Cleveland area and throughout the <br />country. <br />SECTIQN 3: The Clerk of Council is hereby directed to forward a copy of this <br />Resolution to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. <br />SECTION 4: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and <br />welfare, and for the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect <br />immediately so that it will become effective prior to the Fair Housing Month in April, <br />and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of <br />Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by <br />the Mayor. <br />
