the time of his retirement, disability retirement, or death, and payment shall amount to five- <br />eighths (5/8) of the unused accumulated sick leave time. The maximum amount paid for <br />accumulated unused sick leave time and accrued compensation time ("comp time") sha.li not <br />exceed one thousand five hundred (1500) hours in total. The total number of hours of sick leave <br />tha.t any employee may accrue shall not exceed three thousand (3,000) hours. <br />14.9 Employees may use up to fifteen (15) work days per year of earned and <br />accumulated sick leave if necessitated by illness in the employee's immediate family. However, <br />if an employee uses more than seven (7) sick work days per calendar year for this purpose, the <br />employer may require that the employee provide a certificate from the "immediate family" <br />member's doctor(s), explaining the need and purpose of the employee's absence. For purposes of <br />this subsection, "immediate family" shall be interpreted to be spouse, children, parents of the <br />employee, regardless of the place of residence; and other relatives living within the household of <br />the employee. <br />ARTICLE 15 <br />BEREAVEMENT LEAVE <br />All employees shall be granted Bereavement Leave according to the following schedule: <br />15.1 Upon the death of an ixnmediate family member, five (5) days; and, <br />15.2 Upon the death of a family member three (3) days. <br />15.3 For the purposes of this article, immediate family mernber shall mean: Husband, <br />wife, child, parent, brother or sister of employee and parents of spouse of the employee. <br />Family member shall mean: Brother or sister of spouse, grandparents, grandparents of spouse, <br />grandchild as well as any relative living in the employee's home. <br />15.4 Bereavement leave shall be exclusive of sick time or any other accumulated time. <br />23
