Section 18.03 Sick leave shall not be paid to any full-time employee, which exceeds forty (40) hours <br />in any given week. A week is defined as 12:01 AM, Sunday to 12:00 Midnight Saturda,y. <br />Section 18.04 An employee who is to be absent on sick leave shall notify the Employer of <br />such absence and the reason therefor at least one half hour before the start of his work shift each <br />day he is to be absent. It is recognized, however, that an employee who is to be hospitalized or is <br />recuperating from such hospitalization shalt not be required to call in on a daily basis. Such employee <br />shall be required to notify the City of the fcrst day of his absence and shall be required <br />to keep the City regularly apprised of his anticipated date of return. <br />Section 18.05 A full-time employee who is absent on sick leave for an entire scheduled work <br />day shall be charged at a maximvm of eight (8) hours of sick leave and shall be paid at <br />one-hundred (100%) of their regular rate; unless Section 18.06 D is applied. <br />A full-time employa who is absent for a portion of a scheduled work day shall be charged the amount of <br />time absent to the nearest minute and shall be paid at one-hundred (100%) of their <br />regular rate; unless Section 18.06 D is applied. Sick leave may not be paid for any full-time employee on <br />his two (2) scheduled day's off, each week; even if he had been scheduled to work overtime. Sick Ieave <br />may not be used for less than one (1) hour. <br />Section 18.06 A.) An "Eligible Employee," who is not off sick due to a Major Illness, may <br />be absent on sick leave, taken in increments of one, two or three days, for a total of up to six <br />occurrence days (not to exceed a maximum of forty-eight (48) hours) within a calendar year, <br />without being required to submit a doctor's excuse to be paid sick leave. Any Eligible <br />Employee absent on sick leave for more than three consecutive occurrence days (not to <br />exceed twenty-four (24) consecutive hours) at any time shall be required to submit a doctor's <br />excuse to be paid sick leave. Each occurrence constitutes one day even if it is for less than <br />eight (8 )sick leave hours paid _The hours paid above are subject to the meeting the criteria as set <br />forth in B. below and to the criteria in Sections 18.15, 18.16, and 25.03. The hours paid above cannot be <br />used by the "Eligible Employee" on his last scheduled work day before a vacation and his first scheduled <br />work day after a vacation; unless prior managernent approval is given. The hours paid above will also <br />not be applied to the sick ieave reduction process as described in D. below. <br />B.) "Eligible Employee" is defined as follows, for purpose of Section A.) above; as <br />those who meet the following requirements: <br />1 year full-time service, minimum of 96 sick leave hours required, prior to payment. <br />2 years full-time service, minimum of 192 sick leave hours required, prior to payment. <br />3 years full-time service, minimum of 288 sick leave hours required, prior to payment. <br />4 years or more full-time service, minimum of 384 sick teave hours required, prior to <br />payment. <br />C.) Far those employees who do not meet the above requirements in Section B.) <br />above, which requires a certain sick leave hour balance based on years of full-time service; then they <br />must continue to submit satisfactory proof, (Which may be on employer provided forms); of their illness <br />such that they were under a doctor's care prior to being paid any sick leave time. These same employees <br />will be subject to D. below, if applicable. They will also be subject to periodic attendance record reviews <br />if management believes that this employee is developing an attendance problem and are subject to the <br />provisions of other Section 18's that deal with possible abuse. <br />D.) A full-time employee who exceeds sixty (60) hours of paid sick leave time, <br />13 <br />_ ?, ... . .- : x .., . _
