<br />Resolution No. 2004-65 <br />Page 2 <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLM5TED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND 5TATE OF <br />OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Council of the City of North Olmsted strongly opposes <br />the proposed rate increase filed with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) by <br />the electrical utility First Energy Corporation, because of the disastrous effects it will <br />have on the household budgets of residents, and the business budgets of businesses, <br />throughout the City of North Olmsted, and particularly because of the effects it will have <br />on City residents on fixed incomes. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council is hereby directed to forward a copy of <br />this Resolution immediately upon its passage and approval to the Public Utilities <br />Commission of Ohio (PUCO), to Congressman Dennis Kucinich and ta the following <br />State of Ohio officials: Governor Taft, State Senator Spada and State Representative <br />Sally Conway Kilbane. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure immediately necessazy for the preservation of the public health, safety and <br />welfare, and for the further reason that it is necessary that this Resolution becomes <br />effective immediately so that it may be transmitted to the PUCO, and to the governmental <br />officials mentioned above, in time to be taken into consideration before the proposed rate <br />increase of First Energy Corporation is ruled upon by PUCO, and further provided that it <br />receives an affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect <br />and be in force_immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. / <br />PASSED: First Reading: ??? a ? <br />Second Reading: <br />Third Reading: <br />Committee: <br />ATTEST: - <br />PARBARA L.
