I-480 EB at Stearns Road llATE dlLz ';to"d cr) ? <br />1 <br />Introduced by: Mayor No„-man jvj????aj- <br />An emergency ordinance enacted by the City of North Olmsted <br />Cuyahoga County, Ohio, in the matter of the hereinafter described improvement <br />and to request cooperarion by the Director of Transportation. <br />WHEREAS, the City has identified the need for and proposes the improvement of a portion of the public <br />highway which is described as follows: <br />To provide for a single agency to own and maintain the traffic signal system along Stearns Road, including the <br />ODOT ramp signal at the interchange of I-480 EB and Stearns Road. This would give the City of North Olmsted <br />control of the entire signal system which would enhance the implementation of any future timing changes and <br />response time for service calls. This ownership and maintenance transfer will be for the existing operation and <br />the future upgrading of Stearns Road and the signal system. <br />said portion of the highway within the municipal corporation limits being hereinafter referred tu as the <br />unprovement, and <br />WHEREAS, the city further desires cooperation from the Director of Transportation in the planning, <br />design and construction of said improvement. <br />NOW THEREFORE, Be it ardained by the Council of the City of North Olmsted Ohio: <br />SECTION I (Cooperarion) <br />That said City hereby request the cooperation of the Director of T'ransportation in the cost of the above <br />described improvement as follows: <br />The city has requested that the ownership and complete maintenance, including labor, equipment, materials, <br />energy cost, and as further described in Section V herein, of the ramp signal at the interchange of I-480 WB and <br />Stearns Road be transferred from the Ohio Department of Transportation. (ODOT) to the City of North Olmsted. <br />At any time in the future if ODOT determines that the operation of the above subject signal hinders the flow of <br />traffic on the Interstate facility, the City of North Olmsted agrees to iinplement mitigating measures to the <br />satisfaction of the Director in accordance with the attached procedural statement to alleviate the operational <br />deficiency. <br />SECTION II (Consent) <br />That it is declared to be in the public interest that the consent of said City be and such consent is hereby <br />given to the Director of Transportation to construct the above described 'unprovement, in accordance with plans, <br />specifications and estunates as approved by the Director. <br />SECTION III (Authority to Sign) <br />That the <br />Mayor <br />of said City, is hereby empowered <br />and directed on behalf of the City to enter into agreements with the Director of Transportation necessary to <br />complete the planing and construction of this improvement. <br />SECTION N(Traffic Control Signals and Devices) <br />That traffic control devices installed within the lunits of the project will conform with Section 4511 of the <br />Ohio revised Code. <br />Page 1 of 3
