CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2004 - 83 <br />BY: THE MAYOR AND THE ENTIRE CITY COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ACHIEVEMENT BY <br />RONALD P. CERNY II <br />OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD IN BOY SCOUTING <br />WHEREAS, this Council and Administration recognize and reaff'irm their dedication to organized Scouting; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration further recognize that those participating in Scouting, both the <br />youth and their leaders, are an invaluable asset to the community and the Nation, and that the ideals of Scouting, the Scout <br />Oath and the Scout Law are commitments that all citizens should strive for; and <br />WHEREAS, when one of our young citizens has been committed to Scouting to such an extent that he earns the <br />rank of Eagle Scout, it is truly a noteworthy accomplishment; and <br />WHEREAS, RONALD P. CERNY II began his Scouting career in 1997 as a Bobcat by joining Cub Scout Pack <br />664, and has earned the Arrow of Light Award, which is the highest award in Cub Scouting; and <br />WHEREAS, RONALD has been an active participant of Boy Scout Troop 664 and has participated in numerous <br />campouts and canoe trips including a 50-mile canoe trip at Tinnerman Camp in Canada and a 50-mile backpacking trip at <br />Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico; and <br />WHEREAS, RONALD has served his fellow Scouts in the leadership positions of Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol <br />Leader, Troop Guide, Librarian, and Den Chief; and <br />WHEREAS, in achieving his Eagle Scout Award, RONALD earned twenty-four Merit Badges; and <br />WHEREAS, RONALD'S Eagle Scout Project consisted of reconditioning both of the concession stands at the <br />North Olmsted High School football field and painting them in the school colors of black and orange; he and his fellow <br />Scouts and Leaders spent many hours working on the project and Ronald obtained donations to fund the project; and <br />WHEREAS, while undertaking all these Scouting projects, RONALD, a sophomore at North Olmsted High <br />School, has participated in the Varsity Swim Team, Marching Band and Key Club; he is a Certified Swim Instructor, a <br />Red Cross Lifeguard and works at the North Olmsted Recreation Center as a Lifeguard; and <br />WHEREAS, the reception of the Eagle Scout Award by RONALD P. CERNY II is a noteworthy accomplishment <br />deserving of the congratulations of the entire community. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, <br />COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council and City Administration extend best wishes and heartiest congratulations to <br />RONALD P. CERNY II on his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council be, and she is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to <br />RONALD P.
