CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2002 -182 <br />BY: COUNCIL MEMBER MILLER <br />A RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING AND ENCOURAGING THE USE OF <br />STEEL MANUFACTURED IN THE UIVITED STATES OF AMERICA FOR <br />THE CONSTUCTION OF THE NEW NORTH OLMSTED LIBRARY, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, this Council intends to support the domestic steel industry of the United <br />States of America, specifically the nations interest in the capacity to manufacture steel in factories <br />that remain in the U.S.A., primarily located in the Midwest; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council intends to support Congressman Dennis Kucinich and the Steel <br />Revitalization Act of 2001, HR 808, wherein he proposed that the Congress of the United States <br />of America enact policies to strengthen the production of domestic steel; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council intends to support the men and women employed in the <br />domestic steel industry or otherwise in related industries, however described, especially those <br />residents of North Olmsted, so that their tax dollars are spent by the City of North Olmsted in a <br />way that promotes their continued employment; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to encourage the use of domestic steel, that is <br />steel manufactured in the United States of America, in the construction of the new North Olmsted <br />Library, and to further recommend that such domestic steel be supplied for and installed in the <br />new North Olrnsted Library whenever reasonable and possible. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CUUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Council hereby recotnmends and encourages the use of domestic <br />steel products whenever reasonable and possible in the construction of the new North Olmsted <br />Library project. <br />
