CITY OF NORTH OLMST'ED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2002-152 <br />By: Council Members Dailey, Gareau, Kasler, Limpert, Miller, Nashar <br />A RESOL UTION SUPPORTING THE SCHOOLS AND FAMILIES IN <br />THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED BY OPPOSING THE NOVEMBER <br />2002 BALLOT ISSUE (ISSUE 8) REPEALING 4 MILLS OF THE <br />OPERATING LEVY PASSED BY THE VOTERS OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, <br />WHEREAS, as elected officials we take pride in the fact that North Olmsted is an <br />excellent community, and <br />WHEREAS, the quality education of children is the cornerstone of any advanced <br />society, and <br />WHEREAS, we see North Olmsted as a community where families can live, grow, and <br />enjoy their retirement years, and <br />WHEREAS, a good city like North Olmsted needs strong schools in order to attract new <br />families, retain current families, and maintain our property values; and <br />WHEREAS, Issue 8 threatens to remove funds needed for our schools and our students, <br />thereby negatively affecting educational opportunities and property values, and <br />WHEREAS, maintaining the high quality of our schoul district is essential to the <br />economy of the City of North Olmsted. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, STATE OF OHIO AND COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA: <br />Section 1: That this Council opposes Issue 8 and urges residents of North Olmsted to <br />vote NO on Issue 8 in order to mairrtain strong schools, safeguard our property values, and <br />reunite our community. <br />Section 2: That, upon passage and approval of this Resolution, the Clerk of Council is <br />hereby authorized and directed to forward copies of the Resolution to the Superintendent and <br />School Board Members of the North Olmsted City Schools. <br />
