CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2002 -126 <br />BY: Mayor Musial and the Entire City Council <br />A RESOL UTION DESIGNATING SEPTEMBER 11 TH OF EACH <br />YEAR AS SAFETY FORCES APPRECIATION DAY IN THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, ENCOURAGING THE CONGRESS OF THE <br />UNITED STATES TO DESIGNATE SEPTEMBER 11 th OF EACH <br />YEAR AS NATIONAL SAFETY FORCES APPRECIATION DAY, <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the disasters that befell this nation on September 11, 2001, focused <br />America's attention on the selfless dedication of the country's police, fire and emergency <br />medical personnel; and <br />WHEREAS, the men and women of the safety forces of the City of North <br />Olmsted and every other political subdivision in our country never fail to answer the call <br />when needed; and <br />WHEREAS, each response to a call for help carries with it the potential for the <br />responding personnel to face life-threatening situations; and <br />WHEREAS, such valor and dedication should not go unnoticed by the citizens of <br />a free nation; and <br />WHEREAS, the United States Congress has the authority to designate certain <br />days to honor people and professions who deserve special recognition. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OffiO: <br />SECTION 1: That September 110` of each year is designated as Safety Forces <br />Appreciation Day in the City of North Olmsted. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council is hereby directed to forward to those <br />members of the United States Senate and United State House of Representatives who <br />represent the City's residents certified copies of this Resolution, along with a letter <br />encouraging them to introduce and support a resolution in Congress declaring September <br />11'h of each year to be National Safety Forces Appreciation Day. <br />
