(e) In the event the license plate is lost, defaced or destroyed, the Chief of Police, <br />when satisfied of such fact, shall issue a new license plate upon application of the owner <br />of such bicycle. A ..erl,,,.e,,,e.,t f e„F,,,.e a,.».,,. .,,,a so o.,+., r..,,. ,.o„+s (Qi 7c) sw.,il be <br />auffiefized.373.15 RIDING ON STREETS, BICYCLE PATHS OR SIDEWALKS. <br />It shall be legal to ride a bicycle upon a sidewalk, street or public way, or upon <br />any path set aside for the exclusive use of bicycles, subject to the following: <br />(a) Every person operating a bicycle upon a street sha11 ride as near to the right <br />side of the street as is practicable, exercising due care when passing a standing <br />vehicle or one proceeding in the same direction. <br />(b) Persons riding bicycles upon a street shall ride ' <br />abfeast, not more than two abreast, except on paths or parts of streets set aside <br />for the exclusive use of bicycles. <br />(c) Wherever a designated path for bicycles has been provided adjacent to a <br />street, bicycle riders shall use such path and shall not use the street. <br />(d) Any person operating a bicycle shafl may ride upon the sidewalk rather than <br />the roadway when sidewalks are available and not congested with pedestrian <br />traffic. If the sidewalk is congested with pedestrian traffic, the bicycle <br />operator using the sidewalks shall walk the bicycle. At no time shall a <br />bicyclist under the age of ftve eight (8) operate a bicycle on a residential <br />street. At no time shadd a bicyclist under the age of twelve (12) operate a <br />bicycle on any street whrch is not a residential street. <br />(e) No person shall ride a bicycle upon a sidewalk upon or along which signs <br />have been erected by autharity of the Chief of Police prohibiting such bicycle <br />riding. <br />(f) Whenever a person is riding a bicycle upon a sidewalk or street, such person <br />shall yield the right of way to a,ny pedestrian and shall give an audible signal <br />before attempting to overtake and pass a pedestrian or another bicycle. This <br />audible signal must be given only by a bell ar other warning device capable of <br />giving an audible signal, but in no event shall a siren or whistle be used for <br />signaling purposes. Such signal shall be given at a distance and in such a <br />manner as not to startle a person being overtaken and passed. <br />(g) No person shall ride a bicycle across or through an intersection when crossing <br />a through street. Such intersections are to be crossed by walking the bicycle <br />across or through the intersection. <br />(h) Whenever a person is riding a bicycle upon a sidewalk, the person, before <br />overtaking and passing a blind person carrying a white cane, shall dismount <br />and overtake or pass on foot; <br />(i) When a bicycle is operated on a street, the operator shall give hand signals <br />before turning, changing lanes or stopping. Such signals shall conform with <br />the Motor Vehicle Laws of the State. <br />(j) Every rider of a bicycle shall exercise due care to avoid colliding with any <br />pedestrian or any vehicle upon any roadway, sidewalk or bicycle path, or <br />s <br />
