CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2002-121 <br />BY: Mayor Musial <br />A RESOLUTIONAUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OFS7XTEEN <br />THOIISAND DOLLARS ($16, 000) TO THE FRATERNAL ORDER OF <br />POLICE, OHIO LABOR COUNCIL, ING FOR DISTRIBUTION TO <br />SPECIFIC OFFICERS OF THE NOPD AND IN CONSIDERATION OF THE <br />SETTLEMENT OF GRIEVANCES UNDER THE COLLECTIVE <br />BARGAINING AGREEMENT AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Fraternal Order of Palice, Ohio Labor Council, Inc., has filed, on behalf <br />of its membership in the North Olmsted Police Department, three (3) separate grievances <br />pursuant to the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA); and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and his designees have, on behalf of the Administration, through <br />the process of investigation and negotiation, during the pendency of said grievances, proposed to <br />resolve all three (3) grievance claims by offering to bargain unit members enrollment in a <br />different dental plan, which includes orthodorrtic coverage, available through AFSCME Care and <br />by reimbursing certain bargaining unit members for orthodontic expenses incurred prior to the <br />filing of the grievances in the amount of Sixteen Thousand Dollars ($16,000); and <br />N'HEREAS, the costs saved through enrollment in AFSCME Care Plan, together with <br />the arbitration costs saved by foregoing further hearings on these grievances, will more than <br />equal the settlement amount, not to mention the intangible benefit of positive labor relations; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Finance to pay to <br />the FOP, Ohio Labor Council, Inc. by and for distribution to certain, identified bargaining unit <br />members of the NOPD, the sum of Sixteen Thousand Dollars ($16,000). <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CI'TY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OffiO: <br />
