CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2002-107 <br />BY: THE MAYOR AND TI-E ENTIRE CITY COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ACHIEVEMENT BY <br />THOMAS SCOTT POOLE <br />OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD IN BOY SCOUTING <br />WHEREAS, this Council and Administration recognize and reaffirm their dedication to organized Scouting; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration further recognize that those participating in Scouting, both the <br />youth and their leaders, are an invaluable asset to the community and the Nation, and that the ideals of Scouting, the Scout <br />Oath and the Scout Law are commitments that all citizens should strive for; and <br />WHEREAS, when one of our young citizens has been committed to Scouting to such an extent that he earns the <br />rank of Eagle Scout, it is truly a noteworthy accomplishment; and <br />WHEREAS, THOMAS SCOTT POOLE began his Scouting career as a Tiger Cub and advanced to Cub Scouts <br />where he eamed the Arrow of Light Award, which is the highest award in Cub Scouting; and <br />WHEREAS, THOMAS became a member of Boy Scout Troop 664 in 1995 where he served as a Patrol Leader, <br />Assistant Senior Patrol Leader & Instructor, Den Chief Conference Training Staff: Senior Scout-in-Charge & Instructor; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, throughout his Scouting career, THOMAS attended a wide variety of activities and outings including <br />Beaumont Scout Reservation - Greater Cleveland Council, served as Acting Assistant Senior Patrol Leader for Troop 664 <br />- Summer Camp, 1998, received the Trailblazer Award (Pioneer Awards Program) - Summer Camp, 1998, participated in <br />the 7`h Annual NASA Young Astronaut Day Competition and was a BSA Space Engineers team member, <br />WHEREAS, THOMAS in achieving his Eagle Scout Award earned twenty-six Merit Badges; and <br />WHEREAS, THOMAS' Eagle Scout Project was the refurbishing of a hall in the pre-school area at the West <br />Shore Unitarian Universalist Church in Rocky River; and <br />WHEREAS, while undertalcing a11 these Scouting projects, THOMAS attended and was graduated from <br />Lakewood High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society in his junior and senior years, the <br />Astronomy Club in all four years of high school where he served as the Secretary in his sophomore year and Vice- <br />President in his junior year, the Watters Science Seminar (Science and Math Honor Society) in his sophomore, junior and <br />senior years, the Concert Band during his freshman and sophomore years, Students Against Drug Driving (SADD) during <br />his senior year, the Outdoor Track and Field team in a11 four years of high school and served as the Shuttle Hurdle Team <br />Captain in his junior year; and THOMAS is a member of the West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church where he is a <br />member of the Junior Choir; and <br />WHEREAS, the reception of the Eagle Scout Award by THOMAS SCOTI' POOLE is a noteworthy <br />accomplishment deserving of the congratulations of the entire community. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, <br />COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council and City Administration extend best wishes and heartiest congratulations to <br />THOMAS SCOTT POOLE on his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council be, and she is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to <br />THOMAS SCOTT POOLE. <br />Passed: <br />J C:- <br />L.
