? <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2002 -198 <br />BY: Mayor Musial <br />AN ORDWANCE ABOLISHING THE POSITION OF ASSISTANT FIRE <br />CHIEF IN THE ORGANIZATIONAL CHART OF THE FIRE <br />DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, AND DECLARING <br />AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and the Directar of Public Safety have reviewed the <br />organizational chart of the Fire Department of the City of North Olmsted; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and the Director of Public Safety have found that the duties of <br />the Assistant Fire Chief, as set forth in the Rules and Regulations of the Fire Department, are <br />essentially the same as those of the Fire Chief, and that, in the absence of the Fire Chief, said <br />duties may be competently performed by a Shift Captain; and <br />WHEREAS, in the interests of promoting efficiency in the organization of the Fire <br />Department, the Mayor and the Director of Public Safety recommend that this Council abolish <br />the position of Assistant Fire Chief in the Organizational Chart of the Fire Department; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council, upon review of the recommendations of the Mayor and <br />Director of Public Safety, expressly finds that there is no continuing need for the position of <br />Assistant Fire Chief in the Organizational Chart of the Fire Department of the City of North <br />Olmsted; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the position of Assistant Fire Chief in the Organizational Chart of the <br />Fire Department of the City of North Olmsted is hereby abolished. <br />SECTION Z: That the Director of Public Safetq is hereby directed to forward an attested <br />copy of this Ordinance, along with the City's detailed rationale for the abolishment of the <br />position, to the Secretary of the Civil Service Commission; to the President of the International <br />Association of Firefighters, Local 1267; and to Thomas Klecan, Assistant Fire Chief. <br />
