CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ORDINANCE NO. 2002 -198 BY: Mayor Musial AN ORDWANCE ABOLISHING THE POSITION OF ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF IN THE ORGANIZATIONAL CHART OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the Mayor and the Directar of Public Safety have reviewed the organizational chart of the Fire Department of the City of North Olmsted; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and the Director of Public Safety have found that the duties of the Assistant Fire Chief, as set forth in the Rules and Regulations of the Fire Department, are essentially the same as those of the Fire Chief, and that, in the absence of the Fire Chief, said duties may be competently performed by a Shift Captain; and WHEREAS, in the interests of promoting efficiency in the organization of the Fire Department, the Mayor and the Director of Public Safety recommend that this Council abolish the position of Assistant Fire Chief in the Organizational Chart of the Fire Department; and WHEREAS, this Council, upon review of the recommendations of the Mayor and Director of Public Safety, expressly finds that there is no continuing need for the position of Assistant Fire Chief in the Organizational Chart of the Fire Department of the City of North Olmsted; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That the position of Assistant Fire Chief in the Organizational Chart of the Fire Department of the City of North Olmsted is hereby abolished. SECTION Z: That the Director of Public Safetq is hereby directed to forward an attested copy of this Ordinance, along with the City's detailed rationale for the abolishment of the position, to the Secretary of the Civil Service Commission; to the President of the International Association of Firefighters, Local 1267; and to Thomas Klecan, Assistant Fire Chief.
