<br /> <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2002-44 <br />BY <br />Mayor and All Members of Council. <br />AN ORDINANCE ?E11PQRARILY AMENDING THE <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL FILE OF THE CITY OF N017TH <br />4LMSTED BY PLACING TWO "NO LEFT" T(IRN" SIGNS <br />ON THE NORTH SIDE OF BUTTERNUT RIDGE ROAD <br />NEAR 26670 A1V',p 26610 BUTTERNUT RIDGE ROAD, IN <br />ORDER T4 PRQHIBIT LEFT TURNS INTO TLfE <br />BUTT'ERNUT RIDGE ELEMENTARY SCHODL <br />DRXVEN'AY DUItING CERTAIN SCHOOL HOURS, AND <br />ANADDITIONAL TWO "NO LEF7' TURN" SIGNS ON THE <br />A'EST SIDE OF DOYER CENTER ROAD NEAR 4290 AND <br />4240.4260 DOVER CENTER ROAD, IN ORDER TO <br />PROHIBIT LEFT TURNS INTO THE PINE ELEMENTARY <br />SCHOOL DRIVEWAY DURING CERTAIIV SCHOQL <br />HUURS, AND DECLARINGANEMERGENCY. <br />a, <br />WHEREAS, as a result of the failed school levies, the North Olmsted School <br />Board ha.s decided to discontinue, effective April 8, 2002, school bus services for <br />elementary and middle school students living within two miles of their schools; and <br />WHEREAS, as a result of the implementation of this decision by the School <br />Board, the number of vehicles transporting students to and from the City's elementary <br />schaols and Middle School will dramatically increase effective April 8, 2002; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and this Council believe that the resulting increase of <br />vehicles will pose a particularly dangerous traffic problem on Butternut Ridge Road, near <br />Butternut Elememary School, and on Dover Center Road, near Pine Elemerrtary 5chool; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the City Traffic Engineer has field-studied these locations and has <br />made recommendations to the Administration regarding left turns into these school <br />driveways during school hours; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Mayor and this Council to ameliorate this <br />traffic problem, consistent with the recommendations of the City Traffic Engineer, by <br />temporarily prohibiting left turns into the Buttemut Elementary School and Pine <br />Elementazy School driveways on, respeetively, Butternut Ridge Road and Dover Center <br />Road, during certain school hours, for so long as bussing to these schools is restricted as a <br />result of the failed school levies; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAIIVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND THE STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECT'ION 1: That the Police Department be and the same is hereby authorized <br />and directed to temporarily amend the Traffic Control File of the City of North Olmsted, <br />for the time period indicated below in Section 3, to indicate thereon the location of the <br />two "No Left Turn" signs on Butternut Ridge Road, the first, facing east, to be located <br />west of the driveway apron for 26670 Butternut Ridge Road, and the second, also facing
