CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2002-46 <br />BY: THE MAYOR AND THE ENTIRE CITY COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ACHIEVEMENT BY <br />MICHAEL JOSEPH BALL <br />OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD IN BOY SCOUTING <br />WHEREAS, this Council and Administration recognize and reaffirm their dedication to organized Scouting; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration further recognize that those participating in Scouting, both the <br />youth and their leaders, aze an invaluable asset to the community and the Nation, and that the ideals of Scouting, the Scout <br />Oath and the Scout Law are commitments that all citizens should strive for; and <br />WHEREAS, when one of our young citizens has been committed to Scouting to such an extent that he earns the <br />rank of Eagle Scout, it is truly a noteworthy accomplishment; and <br />WHEREAS, MICHAEL JOSEPH BALL began his Scouting career as a Tiger Cub in 1991; after Tiger Cubs, he <br />joined Cub Scout Pack 664 at Spruce School where he was a very active member and earned the Arrow of Light Award, <br />which is the highest award in Cub Scouting; and <br />WHEREAS, MICHAEL became a member of Boy Scout Troop 53 in 1996 and has served his fellow Scouts as an <br />Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Troop Guide and Junior Assistant Scoutmaster and was chosen by his fellow <br />Scouts to be in the Order of the Arrow, a service organization in Scouting;, and <br />WHEREAS, throughout his Scouting career, MICHAEL attended a wide variety of outings and many service <br />activities including attending five summer camps at Camp Merz in Chautauqua, New York and, because of his love of <br />history, made a most enjoyable trip to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania; and <br />WHEREAS, MICHAEL, in achieving his Eagle Scout Award earned thirty-one Merit Badges; and <br />WHEREAS, MICHAEL'S Eagle Scout Project was unique in that, with the help of many fellow Scouts and with <br />a resolution of the North Olmsted City Council, he "computerized" many deteriorating historical articles about North <br />Olmsted from the North Olmsted Library and then assembled them into a 125 page book which included photographs of <br />historical homes and ciTy landmarks and he also made a CD to go along with each book; and <br />WHEREAS, while undertaking all these Scouting projects, MICHAEL, a junior at North Olmsted High School, is <br />maintaining a 4.0 average and is an active member of the Key Club and has been accepted into the SITES (Social <br />Involvement Through Educa.tion and Service) program in his senior year? and he has been an active member of the Youth <br />Group of St. Clazence where he is a member of the retreat team and has been a participant in the food collection and <br />Christmas project for the less fortunate; and <br />WHEREAS, the reception of the Eagle Scout Award by MICHAEL JOSEPH BALL is a noteworthy <br />accomplishment deserving of the congratulations of the entire community. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RE50LVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, <br />COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council and City Administration exrtend best wishes and heartiest congratulations to <br />MICHAEL JOSEPH BALL on his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout. <br />SECT'ION 2: That the Clerk of Council be, and she is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to <br />MICHAEL JOSEPH BALL. <br />? <br />Passed: ?Att?- i <br />??-?-? ? ) ?
