<br />A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ACHIEVEMENT BY
<br />NICHOLAS ANDREW BATE5
<br />OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD IN BOY SCOUTING
<br />WHEREAS, this Council and Administration recognize and reaffirm their dedication to organized Scouting; and
<br />WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration further recognize that those participating in Scouting, both the
<br />youth and their leaders, aze an invaluable asset to the community and the Natioq and that the ideals of Scouting, the Scout
<br />Oath and the Scout Law are commitments that all citizens should strive for; and
<br />WHEREAS, when one of our young citizens has been committed to Scouting to such an extent that he eams the
<br />ra.nk of Eagle Scout, it is truly a noteworthy accomplishment; and
<br />WHEREAS, NICHOLAS ANDREW BATES began his Scouting career when he was a first-grader by joining
<br />Pack 761; he earned the Arrow of Light Award, which is the highest award in Cub Scouting; and
<br />WHEREAS, NICHOLAS became a member of Boy Scout Troop 53 in 1995 where he served as a Patrol Lea.der,
<br />Instructor, Senior Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, Junior Assistant Scoutmaster, Den Chief for Pack 52, Chaplain Aide and
<br />Troop's Chaplain and was responsible for delivering religious services on Sundays during camp outs and has also
<br />delivered the protestant church services at All Scouts Weekend for two years and will do so again this year; and
<br />WHEREAS, throughout his Scouting career, NICHOLAS attended a wide variety of outings and camp outs
<br />including a 50 mile canoe trip, earned the Paul Bunyan Award, attended Junior Leadership Training and became of a
<br />member of the Order of the Arrow; and
<br />WHEREAS, NICHOLAS, in achieving his Eagle Scout Award earned twenty-six Merit Badges; and
<br />WHEREAS, NICHOLAS' Eagle Scout Project included distributing five hundred Jesus movies to the community,
<br />designing and building a float for Ascension Lutheran Church for the City Homecoming Parade, and developing a
<br />Friendship Sunda.y for his church, where the church opened its doors to the community; and
<br />WHEREAS, while undertalcing all these Scouting projects, NICHOLAS, a Senior at North Olmsted High School
<br />and a student in the S.I.T.E.S. program, is a two-year letterman and captain of the Cross Country Team and earned the
<br />Eagle Pride Awazd, participated in and was captain of the Mock Tria1 Team and earned five Best Attorney Awards, is a
<br />member of the Orchestra, participated in the High School Student Council where he served in severalleadership roles, is a
<br />member of the Lutheran Church Youth Group and served as the vice president for three years, is a member of the
<br />Ascension Lutheran Church Board of Christian Outreach, and is a member ofthe Fellowship of Christian Athletes and has
<br />served as a vice president, treasurer and activities coordinator; and
<br />WHEREAS, NICHOLAS has received the Democracy in Action Award and plans to attend Capital University
<br />where he will major in Political Science and plans on being involved as a Scout leader throughout his college years; and
<br />WHEREAS, the reception of the Eagle Scout Award by NICHOLAS ANDREW BATES is a noteworthy
<br />accomplishment deserving of the congratulations of the entire community.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED,
<br />COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO:
<br />SECTION 1: That this Council and City Administration extend best wishes and heartiest congratulations to
<br />NICHOLAS ANDREW BATES on his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout.
<br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council be, and she is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to
<br />NICHOLAS ANDREW BATES.
