By: Mayor O'Grady <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE DIRECTOR OF <br />PLANNING TO MAKE APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT <br />(CDBG) FUNDS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2009 FOR A PROJECT TO <br />MAKE ADA IMPROVEMENTS TO THE NORTH OLMSTED SENIOR <br />CENTER, COMMUNITY CABIN AND NORTH OLMSTED PARK; <br />FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE USE OF CITY FUNDS AS THE LOCAL <br />MATCH; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE <br />GRANT IF A WARDED; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, this Council created, through the adoption of Resolution No. 2006-66, a <br />Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC), in part, for the purpose of reviewing and recommending <br />applications for Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) during fiscal years 2007-2009; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, this Council, after a public hearing was conducted, has determined that the <br />City of North Olmsted qualifies for CDBG funds; and <br />WHEREAS, the Citizens Advisory Committee has submitted a report to this Council <br />recommending the above entitled project, which involves removing architectural barriers to the <br />North Olmsted Senior Center, Community Cabin and North Olmsted Park; and <br />WHEREAS, said project includes applying for up to the maximum award of a tier two <br />CDBG municipal grant in the amount of One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00) for such <br />project; and <br />WHEREAS, it is accardingly the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of <br />Planning to make application for said CDBG partial funding for said project, to authorize the use <br />of matching funds for construction costs and an additional presently undetermined amount for <br />project administration costs, and to authorize the Mayor to accept the CDBG grant if awarded; <br />NO W, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED B Y THE CO UNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby authorize the Director of Planning to <br />prepare, sign and submit an application for Community Development Block Grant funds for <br />fiscal year 2009 on behalf of the City of North Olmsted for the ADA improvement project which <br />proposes to remove architectural barriers to the North Olmsted Senior Center, Community Cabin <br />and North Olmsted Park; does further authorize the use of matching City funds for the project as <br />described in the application, for construction costs and an additional amount as yet undetermined <br />for project administration costs, up to a maximum of One Hundred Thousand Dollars <br />($100,000.00); and finally does authorize the Mayor to accept the grant and execute a contract <br />and any and all other necessary papers, if a grant awarded.
