t CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 2008 -129 By: Mayor O'Grady A RESOLUTION APPROVING OF AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WITH THE OHIO PATROLMAN'S BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION FOR THE CITY'S DISPATCHERS FOR THE PERIOD JANUARY 1, 2007 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2008 AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY WHEREAS, the legislature of the State of Ohio has heretofore adopted legislation calling for collective bargaining agreements with public employees; and WHEREAS, the Ohio Patrolman's Benevolent Association has been recognized as the exclusive bargaining agent for the City's Dispatchers; and WHEREAS, the Administration has conducted bargaining this year with the members of said bargaining unit and has concluded that process with an agreement that is satisfactory to the Administration and the bargaining unit; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to approve of and authorize the Mayor to enter into a collective bargaining agreement with the Ohio Patrolman's Benevolent Association on behalf of the said Dispatchers for the period January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2008; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That the collective bargaining agreement negotiated by and between +he Administration and the Ohio Patrolman's Benevolent Association, on behalf of the City's Dispatchers, a copy of which is attached to this legislation as "Exhibit A," is approved and the Mayor is authorized to execute said Agreement. SECTION 2: That the effective date of any and all wage and other economic benefits provided for in said Agreement, unless otherwise expressly specified therein, shall be January 1, 2007. SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further for the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately due to the fact that the affected employees can receive retro compensation/benefits; and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
