t <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2008 -129 <br />By: Mayor O'Grady <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING OF AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO <br />ENTER INTO A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WITH THE <br />OHIO PATROLMAN'S BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION FOR THE CITY'S <br />DISPATCHERS FOR THE PERIOD JANUARY 1, 2007 THROUGH <br />DECEMBER 31, 2008 AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY <br />WHEREAS, the legislature of the State of Ohio has heretofore adopted legislation calling <br />for collective bargaining agreements with public employees; and <br />WHEREAS, the Ohio Patrolman's Benevolent Association has been recognized as the <br />exclusive bargaining agent for the City's Dispatchers; and <br />WHEREAS, the Administration has conducted bargaining this year with the members of <br />said bargaining unit and has concluded that process with an agreement that is satisfactory to the <br />Administration and the bargaining unit; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to approve of and authorize the Mayor to <br />enter into a collective bargaining agreement with the Ohio Patrolman's Benevolent Association <br />on behalf of the said Dispatchers for the period January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2008; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the collective bargaining agreement negotiated by and between +he <br />Administration and the Ohio Patrolman's Benevolent Association, on behalf of the City's <br />Dispatchers, a copy of which is attached to this legislation as "Exhibit A," is approved and the <br />Mayor is authorized to execute said Agreement. <br />SECTION 2: That the effective date of any and all wage and other economic benefits <br />provided for in said Agreement, unless otherwise expressly specified therein, shall be January 1, <br />2007. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further <br />for the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately due to <br />the fact that the affected employees can receive retro compensation/benefits; and further <br />provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take <br />effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
